This deal has expired and is unfortunately no longer available. Never miss another deal again by signing up for free and instant notifications of new posts.

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get 2,000 additional Membership Rewards points one-time by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $50+ in one or more eligible transactions online only at express.google.com or via the Google Express mobile app by 12/28/2017
  • Others have the same offer but for $20 back instead of 2,000 points

Our Verdict

A lot of people aren’t seeing the offer online but they are seeing it when you see the app. Tax on gift card purchases should be removed when they become ready for shipment. I’m sure there are ways to improve this offer and already looks pretty generous. Please share your tactics in the comments.

Google ended up charging me less than the estimated total in the order confirmation email. I called Amex and they gave me the credit anyway due to “merchant error.”

Google Express is a scam! I ordered items from Adorama Camera through Google Express and was charged the 8.875% tax which is the sales tax rate charged in New York City where Adorama Camera is located. Adorama Camera advises they don’t charge sales tax on orders shipped outside of New York or New Jersey on their website https://www.adorama.com/help/ordering#sales_tax_policy. I live in Ohio and that’s where my items are being shipped to. Google Express advised me it charge sales tax based on where the items are shipped from not where they’re shipped to. Isn’t this illegal? Anyone else had this experience purchasing through Google Express???

Who shipped the package, Google or Adorama? If it was Google, you are buying the item where Google picks it up. That means you buy your stuff in NY and pay NY tax.

For those of you calling in to Amex to get the statement credit, how do you get past their robotic default line of “Wait 90 days for the credit to post?”

I try to explain to them that I received the email confirmation of the AMEX offer, but that the credit didn’t post quickly = glitch and the credit will not post unless manually done even after 90 days.

Then just default back to their standard wait 90 days line. I’m grateful for any exact verbiage you use, and thank you!

Anyone else having Google Express CHARGES not posting to their Amex accounts? I placed a few orders across a few different cards for which I had Amex offers, received the “Great News! You just used your Amex offer” immediately for each, charges showed as pending, I received the merchandise, but the pending charges eventually dropped off and never posted.

I should mention the orders were placed Nov. 21-24, about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

GOOG WMT transaction posted back-dated from 11/7. Credit finally appeared 11/16. One Amex cust serv rather sarcastically told me to wait for 90 more days after 12/28 per the terms of the offer.

What APP are you talking about…AMEX APP?
What is Old Safari trick?
I am an American Citizen, please help

Sometimes using the Amex APP will show offers that don’t show up on your account using the Amex Web login.

Sometime using the Old Amex web interface will show offers that don’t show up on your account using the current Amex web interface. Do a search on DoC for “Old Amex Interface”

Sometimes using the Safari Browser using a “Private Window” and logging into your Amex account causes offers to show up that might not otherwise.

Combine Safari Private Window with the OLD Amex interface could show the Amex offers on your account too.

I have never seen to get the amex offers thats listed on DOC. I have amex business plus and BBVA compass amex. is it normal? is it because one is a business card and the other is not issued by amex?

thanks for answering my question

Currently the Business Plus gets very few Amex Offers assigned to it, don’t know why that is but it’s true, and your BBVA Amex is only able to get Amex Offers if you link that card to a twitter account and then only if specific offers have a twitter hashtag associated with them which also happens pretty rarely. Get yourself the no annual fee Amex Everyday Card to increase your chances.

Anyone got the google express purchase actually charged to Amex and post yet?. How long does it take?. My charge was pending and now disappeared. Its been 8 days and nothing coming thru so far. I got the product (GC) delivered though.

My charges posted but I haven’t gotten the credit.

Also it doesn’t directly show up as Google Express.

An odd DP on this one for me:

I bought a $50 GC (from Staples via Google Express) on Nov 9. Received email confirmation from Amex immediately that I’d successfully used the offer. As of today (11/19), no credit posted to my account, even though the charge is there and I received the GC a while ago.

Even stranger, though, is that the Google Express offer has disappeared from this account (Personal Plat) entirely (not in available, added to card, or “Savings” tabs). I triple checked my card last 4 from the email and it matches the card I used, and I’m sure the offer WAS on this card, as I only have 4 Amex and was lucky enough to get the offer on all 4.

On another card (SPG), I purchased an actual physical item (from WM via Google Express) for $54.39 and also received immediate email confirmation of offer use. Google Express adjusted the price after purchase to $49.70, which is obviously under the trigger point. In this case, the offer at least stayed in the added to card section.

I, too, would be curious to hear if it successfully posted for anyone on a GC purchase as I decide what to do with my 3 unredeemed offers.

I got my credit manually applied after calling. I have still 4 more cards to complete the offer. But, now the GC’s are gone from GE.

Update from me: my points finally posted on the Amex Plat today ($50 GC purchase), with no action from me. Not sure why it took so long, but glad to see that they showed up eventually.

Items were deliverd on 11/13

The charge did not show up on my SPG Amex until 11/18, with the 11/9 transaction date.

The $20 credit showed up on 11/19.

The language seems to indicate you can make multiple purchases (such as two purchases of $25) and still get the credit. Any one try that?
