Our Verdict

Should be able to stack with the 10% online grocery stores. I’m sure there are are some stacking opportunities here, but I’m really not that familiar with instacart. If anybody knows of any please share in the comments below.

anyone knows if I spend in one order total of >$100, would I receive two $25 credit or just one $25 credit?
Or if I spend $30 first order, then $80 second order, how many $25 credit would I receive?

Anyone know if it works on purchase Instacart gift card as well (not third party gift cards, there is also instacart gift card option) ? It is hard to get $50 grocery purchases.

Instarcart is so terrible it’s not even worth the MR for this offer.

Their shoppers are compete idiots. they can grab a box of cereal from the shelf but that’s it – so far all 3 of my orders were messed up. Forget about shopping for meat or seafood.
They have no clue what a pound of tuna looks like. For every item I ordered they would just grab one package of packaged meat, no matter what quantity I asked for.

I hear you. I have enough worry about my spouse picking out grocery items. 🙂

Personally, I went with Costco and Kirkland paper products. Even with a 20% upcharge, between the first time coupon and Amex discount, it was worth it.

I stuck with packaged goods and it still was a mess. Even though I indicated substitutions for various items, I got an endless stream of texts about items that were out of stock and what should be substituted. I shop at the Safeway where I ordered from all the time, and there is no way that so much stuff was out of stock. Just don’t think the shopper looks in the right places. Now need to do some exchanges in person on a few items because some of the substitutions are of no use to me.

On the plus side, a $100+ purchase at Safeway triggered the offer twice without any issue.

I still have the offer on two more cards and the savings are enough to make it worth it, but I really don’t understand why anyone bothers with these services without these deals. I really don’t think it’s much of a time savings if you live close to the store, once you factor in trying to find the stuff on instacart’s website, deal with the texts, wait for the shopper to do the dropoff, and deal with the hassles of sloppy shopping.

Can anyone give an update on their experience using this offer — specifically:
1. If it worked for you on the normal timetable for Amex offers (i.e., you got the credit within a few days after the charge posts), what specific store worked?
2. If it didn’t work on the normal timetable (because the charge said XXX by Instacart), whether the problem fixed itself and you eventually got credited without having to contact Amex?

I’ll add the following datapoint: if you establish an account, but never place an order, it seems that they’ll eventually send you a $20 off $50 coupon. Takes a few weeks though.

11/4 Placed order on Instacart website (ordered Costco final $52.83 after coupon/tax/tip)

11/6 Received 2500 MR pts automatically

Charge posted as just “INSTACART SAN FRANCISCO”

Signed up for free 14 day Instacart Express trial — “GROCERIES13” for $20 off first Instacart order (exp 12/24)

You can change the last digit (3) in the cpn to something else to find one that works in your region — GROCERIES13 works around Chicago

First time users can use promo code “GROCERIES15” or “GROCERIES13” (depending on your area) to get $20 off. These codes are area specific. The system will accept any of these, but credit will show only with one of these depending on your area. If the price is not discounted with the first code, replace it with the second code. Good luck!

Given the comments of some triggering the offer and others not (because it codes as [store] via Instacart), is there any way to know beforehand which way it will code?

I know I’m late to the party, but wanted to clarify that if you purchase more than $100 in groceries, it will trigger the credit twice. Pretty sweet!

Today I got an email from instacart (I have looked around the site but never ordered) claiming a $20 off a $50 order. But no mention of a coupon code. Followed through hoping to stack with AMEX offer but no discount at checkout. I’m skeptical because of the issues. Prices are reasonable for my items.

I added the AMEX offer to my account and used Instacart last night for an order with a subtotal of $57 and a final total after tip and tax of $65. My card was authorized for $75 total but nothing has triggered the offer as of yet. Should I be concerned or just wait until the transaction is finalized and posts?

Same thing happened to me. My posted charge says Publix via instacart but the offer wasn’t triggered. My order was placed yesterday too.
