[Targeted] AmEx Offer: Sam’s Club Online, Spend $30+ & Receive $15 Statement Credit

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a one-time $15 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $30+ in one or more transactions online at Samsclub.com by January 31st, 2018
  • I suspect there is another variation offering 1,500 Membership Rewards points instead of $15 as well.

The Fine Print

  • Not valid on purchases made in club, via the scan and go app, phone orders or new members
  • Excludes prescription and photo purchases amde via Sam’s Club mobile app, Sam’s Club fuel and third party services

Our Verdict

Earlier there was a Sam’s Club Membership offer as well, nice to see another offer for regular spending as well. Don’t forget to go through a portal, current best rates are up to 7%. There doesn’t seem to be any sort of gift card restriction in the fine print, so those purchases should work. Unfortunately $30 gift cards cost slightly less than $30 (e.g $28.98). Feel free to share the best ways to maximize this deal in the comments, I’ll add to this post as I go.

If you also have the Sam’s Club offer giving 5x Membership Rewards points then the two offers should stack. Not as good as the 20% deal last year, but still pretty good with a discount of up to 50% just a shame it’s limited to $30/$15 back.

Bought a $20 and $10 Sam’s gift card twice with 2 cards, but didn’t trigger e-mail saying I used the offers as usually happens immediately. Been 2 days now. Is there a recommended follow-up method? Thanks

my credit for a $40 gift card posted 2 days ago, purchased on 12/22 (didn’t feel like getting a 20 and a 10 to maximize, i spend 150+ a month there anyways).

I bought a $60 card and split the payment across two different AmEx cards ($30 each). Got $15 statement credits on both within 3-6 days

It’s been 7 days and I haven’t gotten any credits yet. I also did the split across 2 cards.

The first 3 transactions I did back on December 26th did post and I received the $15 credit. I purchased Sams Club gift cards. Once you receive them, you need to click through the email they send you to activate them. I had one order that didn’t automatically activate and had to reach out to their customer service. That was a pain! There are $60 Sam’s Club gift cards available so I paid with two credit cards. Then I plan on using those to buy slightly discounted Disney gift cards. I had the physical gift cards delivered to me.

I was going to ask this question: Will Sam’s Club let you use Sam’s Club gift cards to buy other gift cards in-store? My aim was the same as yours: buy the $60 Sam’s Club gift cards using split tender (50% off) and then take those into the Club to purchase Disney gift cards. Didn’t know if they’d let you buy gift cards with gift cards as some stores do not allow that sort of a thing.

How do you split tender online?

Sams don’t sell $500 gc anymore?

Captainsave, Not in the SC stores that I checked in two different regions.

But, there is the variable Amex Secure Pay card up to $500, that has a lower fee attached (not quite $5).

There is a new GC, however, a bit of an anomaly. The variable MC that maxes out at $250.00. It’s fee is about $6 or $7.00. Do not know the bank, sorry.

I *finally* got one of my $15 credits today; the purchase posted back on Dec 24.

The purchase on my other card posted on Dec 26 so hopefully in a couple of days I’ll see that credit as well.

Was your purchase for a GC?

Yep, it was an e-giftcard.

I’ve now also received the credit on card #2, and am looking for credit on card #3 in a few days (the purchase on card #3 was made several days later than the other two).

Just like worth dell.com, samsclub.com allows split tender. I didn’t want to end up with too much Sam’s/Walmart gift card, so I placed an order for $50 Mastercard GC + $10 Sam’s gift card for a total of 63.88. 2 Amex Offers takes it down to 33.88. Also look out for 5x Membership Rewards up to 1500 earned at Sam’s Club offer.

Up to how many cards can you split the tender? You did two, but can you do more? Also, how do you do it at checkout?

You can only do two. Just load both cards to your account and then click the box for both before hitting continue…a box will pop up asking you how much on each card.
