Wondering if charges at check out qualify (the Amex offer seems to suggest it’s only for bookings paid for in certain ways, and it’s unclear if charges paid at the hotel at check out qualify). If anyone can report back here in week or 2 after use in that way, that would be very helpful.

Confirmed – no need to book in a certain way. Charges paid at hotel check out qualify. Includes taxes/fees/whatever, just have to charge >$1000 to the card with the offer activated.
