Deal has expired, view more AmEx offers by clicking here.
Update 11/12/18: Lots of reports of readers being targeted for this when they weren’t before.
The Offer
No direct link, targeted offer
- Get 15% back as a statement credit each time you use your enrolled Card in-store or online at US based supermarkets by 12/31/2018. Limit $10 in total credits
The Fine Print
- Offer is non-transferable.
- Limit $10 in total statement credits per American Express® online account.
- Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 9/30/2018, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase.
- Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant.
Our Verdict
You’ll want to add this to a Hilton card if you were targeted for the spend $200+ at grocery stores and get 10,000 Hilton points promotion. We recently saw a similar deal, but that was 10% back with a maximum of $20 back. Even though this is a higher % back, the other offer is better in my opinion due to the higher maximum back. Either way I’m not complaining about seeing this particular offer.

There’s an incentive at Kroger for 4x fuel points on prepaid visa/MC this weekend as well, so I’m just using my AMEX to buy that, get the fuel points and this will more than cover the fee.
only on my HH cards.
this must be a resurgence of old school style amex offers where the holiday season brought many amazing deals. now with multi tab cut off, amex can afford a bit more since its one per person.
either that or nobody is using their HH cards for normal spend. which is true.
Does Grocery Store and Supermarket refer to the same?
I would like to know if Publix would qualify as a Supermarket?
yes.

Darn. Don’t have this offer on any of my cards.
Got the 15% offer on my SO’s Gold card. Not bad with 4x. Nothing on my cards.
Luckily it’s not just HH cards.
On my Ascend.
This was on my SPG Lux, but not BCP or Gold.
Just to be clear, the $10 offer limit is exhausted with $66.67 spend.
Thanks for confirming my rusty math, Harold!
Thanks, got this offer on my Amex Everyday card.
Can I buy VGC/MGC and still get credit?
Got this on ED but not Gold. The email VERY confusingly reads “You’ll now get 15% back, up to $10, each time you use your enrolled Card at U.S. supermarkets.* ” which seems to imply you can use it an unlimited amount of time to get up to $10 back through 12/31, but the terms are more clear.
The implication is correct though, you can use it an unlimited amount of times through 12/31 up to $10 back.
Just want to confirm you can use this more than once as I was able to trigger the offer via email when used at a Safeway yesterday and just now at Walmart Neighborhood market.
When you say use more than once you mean use more than once until the $10 threshold is met correct? So basically only a $10 statement credit once and not multiple times but multiple purchases until you max out the 15% for $10
Good offer, albeit not a lot of money involved, especially since we’re now one-per-person. But good enough to get me to put my targeted card, and later my wife’s, in my wallet, and use it for the next $66.67 worth of grocery spending! In the “old days” of the multi-card tab trick, I would probably have taken a small stack of cards down to my favorite grocery store and bought store gift cards to use later.
If you add an AmEx offer, does it extend to any authorized users on that account or only the primary number?
In my experience, only the primary user. P2 is still an AU on one of my Amex cards and her offers are often different than mine. Offers that I add also aren’t triggered by her using her AU card.
No love for me. Nothing on Everyday, Hilton or Blue Cash Preferred. Player 2 also had none.
