[Expired] [Targeted] AmEx Offer: Uber, Spend $15+ & Receive $10 Statement Credit

Deal has expired, view more Uber deals by clicking here.

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a one-time $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $15+ in one or more transactions with Uber or Uber Eats by 12/10/2018

The Fine Print

  • Excludes gift card purchases
  • Not valid for international rides

Our Verdict

If you have a Platinum card it would make sense to add it on that card as that card comes with a monthly benefit of $15 in Uber credit ($35 in December). Probably doesn’t matter too much.

I also see in the uber app an option to “add funds” to my UBER cash. Is that different than buying a gift card? Would it work for getting the credit?

I got the offer, if I spend $15, it would only cost me $5 lol. I love Amex! Hopefully it would never go away like Chase offers or Discover deals.

Same question. Can I use this offer with the option to “add funds” to Uber through the app?

You might still receive the credit even without the confirmation email. Fingers crossed, and please let us know if you do.

You won’t get the credit automatically since it’s processed by Cardstar not Uber. I chatted with them and they manually applied the credit though .

did you get it?

I tried loading Uber Cash with $25 and it did NOT work. I’ll try calling AmEx to see if they’ll add the credit since T&C doesn’t explicitly exclude Uber Cash. Overall not the ideal case as the minimum you can load is $25 and I’d prefer to just do the $15 minimum.

I called AmEx and was told the terms and conditions stated the charge needed to be a “Ride.” I pushed back a bit and said I’d read the T&C and it only excluded gift cards. No luck, though, so this offer did not work for me using Uber Cash.

Dang, didn’t get this offer on any of 7 cards across 3 different logins (Biz Plat, Personal Plat, Biz Centurion, SPG Personal, EDP, DL Gold, EDP for P2). Must be really really targeted since I can almost always pull up any given offer across at least one of those cards

I found it on only one card myself, oddly it was the only card login that has two cards. All of my other individual login (5) don’t have it.

This would stack nicely with a $30 off up to $30 ride using promo code UBERAMEX(first time users only). Gotta add it to your account and pay with your (eligible) Amex card. Should get applied to your account so you can see if it took.

So a $45 ride winds up being $5 🙂

Probably better to use a friend’s referral code over Amex’s “referral” code though 🙂

So if you already have the plat cards for the monthly credit, and an uber gift card balance, is there a way to specify how you want the charge distributed so that you can put $15 on the card with the offer?

veeRob
veeRob (@guest_655375)

Not distributed per say, but you can turn the credits off for a ride and have it bill your credit card entirely.

Got it on Aspire, also got (and already used) the Lyft offer on this card. Not bad!

Another important tidbit from the fine print being most people only use Uber when traveling: “Not valid for international rides.”

Deke

“International rides?” Like, taking an Uber from one country to another?

Taking an Uber IN another country.

It’s probably based off what’s charged to the card. So I think you need to spend $30. Uber will take $15 off if you have a platinum credit and charge your card $15 and Amex will statement credit you $10

veeRob (@guest_655372)

William Charles Wow, shocked at original wording! Do you not have the Platinum card and/or never used the Uber benefit?
