Heh… pricing is bizarre.
Current promo on their website has it so that the ‘Telo Air’ by itself is $119.
But if you buy one of the ‘Retro Phone Bundles’, you can get the same Telo Air mentioned above plus a ‘Linx’ plus a ‘retro phone’ for $99 (yes, $20 less than buying just the Telo Air by itself).
Am I missing something? I’ve seen bundle prices that are less than the sum of the parts, but I’ve never seen a bundle price that makes the bundle cost less than an individually sold item from the bundle.
At any rate, total with California Tax came to $110.24 for me. With the $75 AMEX rebate, I figure it’s worth playing with this retro phone bundle for the net cost of $35.24
Cancel your order if you can since you can get it even cheaper at $80+tax
Simply Best Coupons portal is also giving $55 cash back on Ooma which I was able to combine (it actually paid out) — I did not activate the new device (have existing Ooma service so keeping the new device as a spare if old Hub device stops working)
Paid $88 w/ tax in May — got back $4.40 Amex c/b (5% SimplyCash card) + $75 Amex Offer + $55 SBC c/b
Go through SBC portal first and hit buy now — it’ll take you to a cart with $80 LTE bundle. In the browser URL just change the offer code from “TELO_LTE_79” to “TELOAIR_KETTLE_79” (keep the rest of URL for portal c/b tracking)
Discounted promo codes you can use in cart’s URL:
offer=TELO_LTE_49 (add more stuff to get over $75)
offer=TELO_AIR2_79
offer=TELOAIR_KETTLE_79
offer=TELOAIR_PRINCESS_79
offer=TELO_HD3_79
offer=OOMA_HOME_4PC_79
LTE bundle is linked to LTE service so I would avoid that one if you want regular service (they track by serial number)
Thanks for this mate!
I was able to cancel the first order, and now reordered using the TELOAIR_KETTLE_79 offer. Got the total down to $88.19.
Now hopefully the Amex offer doesn’t get ‘stuck’ to the first order and then voided out via the cancel and then unable to apply to the second. Not an entirely big deal since AMEX has been good at manually crediting offers when they don’t automatically do so, however in this case I did definitely not using their own offer link which I’m unsure is a requirement or not — manual crediting might cause them to balk due to the fact that their link wasn’t used.
Well, at any rate, if all else fails I can return this within 30 days.
If they canceled the 1st order then the pending charge should drop off in a few days or a week — the charge should not fully post.
Amex Offer credit is only triggered by a fully posted charge by the retailer so it should just pick up the 2nd order which will fully post a few days after shipping
Well, all went well. Ooma canceled the original order, got the ~$88 all in deal, AMEX posted the $75 credit and SBC has the pending $55 credit (due to pay out in Oct). Decent money maker here…
And heck, the retro phone is kind of fun to have. Actually plugged in a 40 year old rotary phone to the ‘Linx’ and put it in my bar, to complete the look.
Thanks again for the the improved offer info!
Got the Oooma Telo for 79.99, with tax came to 89 and change. I have GV with an OBI 200 for years, but supposedly they may stop offering VOIP after 12/23 so I figured for 14 bucks it’s worth it in case I need to switch next year.
Does Ooma 2602 IP Phone work with Google Voice or other VOIP providers e.g., voip.ms? If it doesn’t it doesn’t look like a terrible deal, although I guess you’d need to double the order to get past the $75
How Google voice is completely free without any taxes but Ooma is charging monthly taxes?
Ooma is one of the worst companies in porting out. When you call them and ask for account # / pin to port out, it will tell you the wrong one(s) a few times to discourage you. You need to use the F word and then you can get the correct one to port out. Your device will become trash once you ported out. New user won’t be able to re-use it. What a shitty company!
Not true you can reactivate old devices
What next, Amex ? Free subscription to AOL with a discounted modem ?
I presume if someone paid for the ad, sure.
They have home security items here
https://www.ooma.com/home-security/buy/
Do you need their home security system to use these items? Thanks! Sally
In the spirit of “be the DP you want”, I just logged into my ooma account (I’m already a happy subscriber) and bought 2 of the HD3 phones. About a minute later I got the “Great news! You recently used your Amex offer” email confirmation from Amex. So this doesn’t look to be limited to the few products on the promo site.
Amusingly, right after that email, I got a second “Great news!” email for the “Spend $115 or more, get $15 back, up to 2 times (total of $30)” wireless bill offer! Will have to keep an eye on this, but at this point it looks like I just got 2 free new cordless phones (I hate my current ones so I had been starting to think about replacing them anyway).
just pick up their outdoor pizza oven
Why do you need the Ooma device anymore? Google Voice can totally replace it. Just install the Google Voice app on your cell phone and use a Google Voice number as your home phone number.
Lots of reasons to not use Google Voice. One very easy to see is if you just don’t want to use Google for that service.
Theres so much outrage about other tech companies harvesting and profiting off of user data, but when Google does the exact same stuff, it’s all cool, and everyone loves it.
What makes you think Ooma does not harvest customer info? Everyone does that, I will stick to the major companies.
That’s LITERALLY my point. Did you not read where I said that?
Sometimes, a person just doesn’t want to use Google specifically. That doesn’t mean that other companies don’t also collect data. I did say that people too often give it to Google for no reason yet get outraged when other companies try to collect that data.
And as a separate point, the privacy policy of Ooma is marginally better than Google. Yes, I’ve actually read both.
