Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Your best bet is to open the Easy checking account which has of $8.95 ($6.95 if you enroll in paperless statements). Fee is waived if you have combined direct deposits totaling $1,000 or more, OR maintain an average monthly balance of $1,500.
Early Account Termination Fee
There is no early account termination fee
Our Verdict
Standard bonus is usually $200, so this is an extra $50. The requirements are mostly the same except only easy or platinum checking accounts are eligible, usually the gold account is eligible and this has the monthly fee waived if you have a U.S. Bank credit card. This makes it a bit more difficult to keep the account fee free, but shouldn’t be a big issue for most people. We won’t be adding this to our best checking bonuses because it’s targeted. Definitely worth doing if you are targeted.

Does anyone know after receiving the bonus, when we can close the account?
Got this offer in the mail and decided to give it a try:
10/09 – $25 deposit for account opening
10/15 – $500 push from Ally
10/19 – $500 real DD
11/16 – $500 real DD
11/19 – $250 bonus posted, coded “Adjusted Interest”
Based on the timing of the bonus, I’m thinking the Ally ACH counted towards the deposit requirement. The fine print said bonus would post within 60 days of meeting the requirements, so I was expecting this in January.
when are you going to cancel the checking acc?
I’m using it as my rent account for now, will probably close it eventually.
when does the bonus come through?
People that are Active Duty or Veterans with the US military should be able to get the monthly service fees waived. This may help some readers avoid extra fees if they qualify.
Does anyone know if either Webull or Robinhood would work for dd? My employer does not allow external ach push.
Can you open the easy account. Get the bonus then product change to gold checking ?
The same question. Does anyone know if US bank allow to change the checking account type?
DP: I did a silver checking (whichever one was 1.5k min bal to keep fee free) -> student checking because I’m an actual student
