Has anyone done a real DD to see what the description and category show up as?

I know on the First TN account the last digits of my direct deposit say PPD. I tried a transfer from Transferwise and the last 3 digits say IAT.

Schwab Brokerage shows up as PPD. It is categorized as “Uncategorized Income”.

Did the real DD trigger the bonus? Per the only DP available the user said the DD triggered the bonus on the same day the DD posted. If it did what is the description and category posted as?

Can anyone confirm what work as DD with this bank? Tried paypal, chase, wells fargo, sofi money, doordash (dasher), none of them seem to be working, planning to open discover savings.

I am still waiting on an answer as well. I’ve tried Wells Fargo and Paypal. I have a Discover Savings account, but it’s in my Husband’s name only so I am not able to add First Horizon as an external bank account, though Not sure if it would trigger a DD either. Any insight from anyone would be appreciated.

Can you post the codes listed for each of those institutions that you used? The magic code seems to be PPD

I opened a FirstView checking account, funded $200 with my outisde bank. All went well. I am now trying to find out how to do a DD with out having to use my paycheck. I tried Wells Fargo business checking but does not look like it showed as a DD. Anybody else have any luck triggering the bonus with an outbank? If so, what worked? My Wells Fargo deposit showed up as WELLS FARGO IFI DDA.

I’ve pushed from Capital One 360 with success before. Also, Discover bank seems to work well.

Only one user claimed that discover triggered the bonus but they provided absolutely no usable information such as; what type of account they used, checking or savings, what the bank deposit description showed up as, or what the category description was, or how long before the bonus showed up after the deposit was made. They might as well not posted anything based on the lack of useful data they withheld.

I am setting up Discover Savings as I thought they did specify that DP. But I am also setting up a real work DD as well.

I applied on 9/5. My account was opened on 9/9 when I verified the trial deposits that First Horizon made on my outside bank. My account showed that the $200 funding was deposited from my outside bank on the 9th but the funding was not available for use until the 17th.

I also did an additional deposit from Schwab Brokerage to see if it would count as a direct deposit. It shows up as “SCHWAB BROKERAGEMONEYLINK “. It is categorized as “Uncategorized Income.”

Has anyone else tried using outside banks to trigger Direct Deposit? If so, how did it show up on your First Horizon account and how was it categorized?

ya, first deposit took very long for me too. More than a week.

Does anyone know if having had a First Tennessee account will disqualify me? After I was approved, I already had an online banking profile and my user ID (my email) was already in the system. I had to call customer service about this and was told that my First Tennessee account was closed on 11/19/2018.

I don’t know when the bonus posted exactly (probably early 2018 or late 2017) but I do know that it was well over a year ago (so should be good there)…but wondering if the “Limit one bonus per household” will trip me up? Someone in customer service did reference that they used to be First Tennessee and that the data was merged / updated so not sure how this will play out. Any insight appreciated!

I had a Capital Bank (another First Horizon predecessor) account with them before, and my profile and user ID was still in their system. As long as it’s been over a year since we should be eligible for the bonus. I closed my Capital Bank account in July 2019.

For those of you including myself that are/were wondering if you disqualified yourself of the bonus by opening the account with the $50 CC funding option instead of the full $200 deposit. Here are the details directly from FH CSR…

Today Monday 14 Sep I received a call from the First Horizon CSR who welcomed me to the bank and asked me if I had any questions. I proceeded to ask her if I had lost out on the bonus by funding the account with a CC that was limited to $50 and she replied “NO”, but that I must deposit the remaining $150 balance within 5 business days in order to qualify.

On Sunday when I opened the account I was able to instantly link to FH from Ally. With this option no micro deposits were required. This instant link option is not available at all banks so it may delay your 5 business day deposit time frame. Today Ally pushed the funds to FH with 1 business day transfer, and tomorrow the funds deposit meeting the 5 business day requirement with days to spare.

I did the same thing but was told I have 7 days to fix it.

Five business days is typically seven calendar days, so you were basically told the same thing.

Opened in branch successfully. Funded with cash.

I was declined with a 0598 so this is great to hear! I figured it would be the same result in person so I didn’t even consider it. Were any questions raised about your previous application or Chex?

No questions, just a raised eyebrow as they clicked through many, many, many things on their screen, which I assumed to be my LOLactivity on ChexSystems. 🙂

I was declined online, hence after seeing one of our kind user comments – decided to visit branch and was able to open successfully yesterday w/out issues. I think something is different in the way they check us when applied online.

Thanks for this. I was bummed about my first Chex decline but had no problem opening in branch!

I applied for the account 9/4, was approved 9/8 (OOS), and funded with a $200 ACH from another bank. The transfer amount has been debited from my other bank and shows as posted to my FH account on 9/8, however it is not being reflected in my Available balance, which is still at zero (my Current balance shows as $200). Has anyone else who funded with ACH had this issue? I wonder if maybe they keep the funds on hold for a few days but eventually make them available.

I am also still waiting for my $200 deposit to reach my FH account. My timeline is pretty much the same as yours. My $200 left my other bank on 9/10. Some banks are just very slow with transfers and FH seems to be one of them.

my transfer only took 1 day

If you had FH get the funds from your other bank, FH will usually place a hold of between 3-10 business days as most banks do since they do not know if the other bank will reject the transfer due to a variety of reasons. Had you sent the funds to FH by initiating the transfer from the other bank and pushing the funds to FH those funds show up instantly within 1 business day or at most 3 business days.

It is always best to push or initiate the transfer of funds from the external bank where the funds currently reside at to the FI that you want the funds to go to.

I’m on a similar timeline. My account showed the transfer deposited on 9/9, and the funds just became available today.

Hello all. A few of us asked earlier in this thread about whether an Iberia account (closed a few months ago) would prevent a person from getting this bonus. I don’t think we have a clear answer yet (though I’d be happy to learn that we do) — so if it is ok with the DoC folks I am raising the question again. William Charles located this language:

EFFECTIVE JULY 2, 2020, IBERIABANK MERGED WITH AND INTO FIRST HORIZON BANK…. FIRST HORIZON BANK AND IBERIABANK, A DIVISION OF FIRST HORIZON BANK, WILL CONTINUE TO OFFER INDEPENDENT PRODUCT LINES FOR A PERIOD OF TIME.

The key questions then appear to be: what constitutes a “period of time”? And did the clock start ticking on that “period” on July 2? If so, that was over 70 days ago. Is it a complete crap shoot whether the period has expired? Or do we we have some grounds for believing we are still within that period? If so, what are those grounds?

I’d like to avoid burning a ChexSystem inquiry (along with all the wasted time) if I am ineligible. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Tom

First horizon appears to be using Early Warning as all the security questions used were all from EW. First Horizon approved me instantly today. Las week I was approved by TD bank also. Two weeks before I was declined by PNC, & first foundation due to those being EW sensitive as a result of opening too many checking accounts. All I can say is give it a try and see what happens. I do not have any lock on my CR.

John
John

Thanks! Actually I meant to say “ChexSystem or EWS inquiry” and forgot — just abbreviated it as ChexSystem. I like limiting my inquiries for either CRA when I can, simply because too many inquiries leads to denials by some banks (as you have experienced yourself) — and that in turn can cost a person hundreds of dollars in lost bonuses.

I think it’s likely I’ll be approved. But for bank bonuses there’s a certain amount of work that you have to put in (counting application, setting up external banks, initial deposits, direct deposits, remembering to close it 7 months later) — work I’d like to avoid if my previous Iberia account stands a decent chance of making me ineligible for the bonus.

Thanks again for your feedback.

John Def Chex sensitive, was rejected with Chex specifically being given as reason. Tom
