Our Verdict
Truist is the new name for the merged BB&T and SunTrust bank. Keep in mind you won’t be eligible for this bonus if you’ve held a BB&T/SunTrust or Truist account since 2/1/21. They launched with a $500 bonus, but we haven’t seen that bonus return and normally it’s only $200 so I’d recommend doing this offer and will add to the best bank account bonuses.

- Update 8/13/23: Deal is back and valid until October 31, 2023. Bonus has been reduced to $300, so worth waiting for $400 to return.
- Update 5/27/23: Extended until July 25, 2023.
- Update 5/16/23: Extended until June 1, 2023.
- Update 4/17/23: Deal is back and valid until 5/15/23. Hat tip to Tornado
- Update 1/22/23: Make sure adblocker is disabled to get promo code to work properly.
- Update 1/22/23: Deal is back, has been increased to $400 from $200 and valid until Apr. 14, 2023. Terms do state ‘Offer Eligibility: Offer is only available to individuals who received a direct communication from Truist.’ so unsure if this targeted or not. Does show up in a google search for vague terms such as ‘checking bonus’.
- Update 11/12/22: Deal is back but reduced to $200. Hat tip to reader John.

I have a new theory about when the tracker appears. I am thinking that it might happen after the 1st statement posts.
I just checked and saw that my 1st statement posted on 4.10.24. I checked the “Offers” page this past Monday and the $400 offer was there. Maybe it actually appeared last Wednesday or Thursday.
Do both of your experiences debunk or add credence to my theory?
Jimmy,
I’m tagging you again as I accidentally tagged myself the 1st time (instead of you) and editing the comment does not cause you to receive an email mention.
Eric 🔗, that doesn’t work for my data:
3/13/2024 – Opened account.
3/18/2024 – Earliest screenshot I took of the tracker. It shows “Enrollment Pending”.
3/21/2024 – Tracker changed from “Enrollment Pending” to “Qualification Pending”.
4/10/2024 – Closing date of first statement.
I have no idea why yours took so long to appear. 🙁
Has anyone else linked a Truist small business checking account to this personal checking account to avoid the monthly account fee? If so, can you explain exactly in what way it needs to be done? I figured it would be pretty straightforward but I’m only seeing options to link non-Truist accounts on the personal side. Will it register if linked from the business side?
For anyone else wondering, I called and the rep said it linked automatically. I don’t see that when I log in but I guess I’ll take her word for it until I get charged a monthly fee.
03/08: opened acct
03/14: $500 DD from employer
03/20: completed 15 Amazon reload
03/29: received $400 bonus
04/8: closed acct via chat
Pretty fast closure. Pondering if I should just keep $500 balance and close in 3 months.
Why keep the $500 balance? A $500 DD also waives the $12 monthly fee.

I just logged into my “Truist Offers” page and the $400 offer now is showing. It shows “Enrollment Pending”.
It took nearly a month for it to appear so anyone else worried like I was, just keep checking every week (or more often) and it will likely eventually show up.
It’s also possible that the faster you complete the qualifying activities, the sooner it will appear. I received the bonus in less than a month from account opening – opened 03/20, bonus received 04/12 – so to take a month for the tracker to update would have seemed unusual.
Yes, I think that’s it. I haven’t met the debit requirements yet but my $500+ DD posted only about a week ago. It’s very possible that the tracker appears about a week after at least 1 of the requirements are met.
Good deal! You waited a long time for that one.
03/16 – Opened Truist Checking Online
03/19 – $500 Push from Wells Fargo Checking
04/03 – 15 Amazon $1 reloads
04/12 – $400 Bonus posted overnight
Data point: Chase DD works.
Opened around 3/4/24, funded $200.
Chase DD of $520 around 3/10/24.
16 debit transactions over a few weeks, up through about 4/5/24.
$400 bonus posted yesterday.
Thanks Doc and all.
DP:
2022 – Prior checking account closed; $500 bonus received.
3/13/2024 – Opened account and funded with $50.
3/21/2024 – Tracker changed from “Enrollment Pending” to “Qualification Pending”.
3/26/2024 – $500+ push from Chase posted in Truist.
3/28/2024 – Tracker showed check-mark for direct deposit.
3/27 – 4/09 – 15 debit card purchases of bananas, one at a time, at Walmart (~$0.21 per transaction).
4/11/2024 – Tracker showed check-mark for debit card purchases.
4/12/2024 – $400 bonus posted (as of 4/11/2024) “MKTG PROMOTIONS MISC CREDIT Reward TRUIST400DC24”.
Does your tracker show both the 2022 and 2024 bonuses or did the 2022 disappear when you signed up in 2024? I’m a little concerned because my tracker only shows the $500 bonus that I did in 2022.
My tracker has shown both bonuses: screenshot.
I hope you can get yours straightened out!
What is a tracker?
Sign up at the below link with the same information as your Truist account. Then you will see a “tracker” showing the progress of the offer.

Correction on bonus posting:
Bonus appeared in account as of Saturday morning, 4/13/2024, with posting date of 4/12/2024.
How do yall see the tracker?
Another data point that Fidelity works for the direct deposit. This was my second churn of the Truist Personal Checking, the first time was in mid ’22 – $400 bonus received.
Did the offer ever show up under your “Truist Offers” page? If so, did it show both the 2022 and 2024 bonuses there?
Yes, they both showed. The first one having already been there from before, and the second took a little while to show after enrollment/ opening. Don’t worry, it will show as long as you are enrolled in the offer – it just takes time to update.
When did you open your Truist account? I opened my account almost a month ago and the offer still hasn’t shown up.
It didn’t take that long. I think it was around 5-7 days. Sounds like you should call to make sure the promo code was correctly applied. Didn’t realize it’d been that long.
When I log into the Offers site, all it shows me is a big search box in which you have to manually enter the promo code and then search it. Is this what yours was doing for the past month? When I look up the offer manually, it does show the two (empty) check boxes but mine doesn’t show “enrollment pending” or anything. I just opened my account on 4/11.
Not exactly. I did the $500 offer back in 2022 so that was showing on my Offers page the entire time.
Have you met either requirement yet? If not, that’s probably why it’s not showing up yet.
Gotcha. My $500 deposit just posted today and still waiting on my debit card to come in
Does anybody have a tip or trick to actually registering on the offers.truist.com site? I’m trying to register, and it e-mails a link to create a password, but then when you enter the password it consistently just then gives you a “the page has expired due to inactivity please refresh and try again”. It’s happening on both mobile and desktop browsers. If you try to register again it tells you your e-mail address is already in use and suggests you use the “forgot password” link… but then you when you do that you just get the “page expired” error again. Any April 2024 people actually able to get into the offers tracker?
It’s been a while since I registered for the my offers sight so i really can’t remember, but I don’t recall it being exceedingly difficult. Maybe see if you can get their tech support on the phone.
Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek Eric mothman69 Now that some time has passed since my last account opening, I wanted to do a couple bonuses. I’m thinking this one, Truist Business, and Citi. Is there a specific order I should do, so I don’t get rejected due to Chex? Thanks.
They both pull Chex but Citi isn’t Chex sensitive, so I would open Truist Business first and then Citi.
Have you seen DP of Truist being Chex sensitive?
