- Have your direct deposit, in the amount of $500 or more each month, made to this account within 90 days of account opening
- There is also a savings bonus for up to $2,500. Deposits must be maintained for 90 days:
- $250 for $10,000 or more in deposits
- $1,250 for $100,000 or more in deposits
- $2,500 for $250,000 or more in deposits

- Bonus/Account Information: The Bonus offer is not applicable to business accounts, business products, or HSA and IRA Savings Accounts. The offer is not available to those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within the last three years.
- Currently, you may receive only one bonus offer per household, which includes a bonus for opening one new checking account, a bonus for opening one new savings or money market account and a bonus for depositing new funds into an existing savings or money market account. The Bonus is good for one-time use.
- The $300 Cash Bonus offer is currently available. To receive the new Checking Account Bonus offer: 1) Open any of the following new accounts – Essential Checking, Associate Checking, Signature Checking, Johnson Bank Retiree Checking, Private Banking Checking. And 2) Have your direct deposit, in the amount of $500 or more each month, made to this account within 90 days of account opening.
- Your direct deposit must be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, government, social security, or pension benefits from your employer or the government. (1) Person-to-Person payments do not qualify. The Cash Bonus will be paid after 90 days, but no later than 120 days after account opening when Cash Bonus eligibility requirements are met.

- The below tiered Cash Bonus offers are currently available when you deposit new money that is currently funds not held by you at Johnson Bank or its affiliates. To receive any of the new Savings and Money Market Account Bonus offer: 1) Open any of the following new accounts with an initial deposit of $10,000 or more – Essential Savings, Associate Essential Savings, Signature Money Market, Johnson Bank Retiree Savings, Relationship Money Market, or Private Banking Money Market. If you already have a savings or money market account with us, you can qualify for a cash bonus by making a one-time deposit of $10,000 or more into that account. 2) Maintain your initial or one-time deposit of $10,000 or more for 90 days in your new or existing savings or money market account. And 3) Open or must have an existing Johnson Bank Consumer Checking account and maintain the account for at least 90 days. Bonus tier and payout will be determined based upon the amount of your initial or one-time deposit.
- The Cash Bonus will be disbursed no earlier than 90 days and no later than 120 days following the opening of a new account, or the initial deposit made into an existing account, contingent upon fulfillment of all eligibility criteria. Essential checking is the easiest to keep fee free. The $10 monthly fee is waived if one of the following are met:
- Monthly ACH direct deposit into the account OR
- $500 minimum daily ledger balance
- $1,000 average monthly cycle ledger balance
- $100,000 combined related aggregate ledger balance
Early Account Termination Fee
$35 fee if closed within 90 days
Our Verdict
You can view the current rates here. Essential savings is 0.15% APY and then signature money market is 0.01% – 0.85% APY depending on the balance. You get a better return putting funds into a 5% APY account for the $1,250 and $2,500 tiers compared to this bonus whereas the $250 bonus is significantly better.
