[Update] Chase Is Matching The Increased Sapphire Reserve & INK Business Card Offers (80,000/90,000)

Update 10/24/22: Chase is matching INK bonuses even more than 90 days, for a lot of people. It’s not clear exactly how long they’ll match. Also note that not everyone is having success, but most people are. I learned about this in the comments yesterday and tried it out myself via SM. The message came back today agreeing to match me, and the points are showing immediately. Really amazing! I’m not sure if anyone is getting their Sapphire Reserve  match for more than 30 days.

Update 10/21/22:

  1. Reports indicate they are only matching the Sapphire Reserve bonus for 30 days, from September 15, 2022 through October 16, 2022. That’s unlike Chase’s old matching policy of 90 days. (ht Ben)
  2. Conversely, we have at least one report of the INK bonus being matched for around 3 months (ht Tdub)
  3. Most data points are for matching on the INK Unlimited. We also now have a data point on matching for the Chase INK Cash bonus as well (ht Tdub)

Original Post 10/20/22:

Reports indicate that Chase is matching the increased Sapphire Reserve 80,000 points offer and the INK Unlimited 90,000 points offer, upon request. If you recently got approved for the Sapphire Reserve or INK Unlimited card, send Chase a secure message or call in to see if they can match the newer offer and increase your bonus. It’s possible they’ll match the INK Cash 90,000 points offer as well, though we haven’t seen any data points yet on that.

For background, some card issuers will match a newer signup offer if the bonus got increased soon after you got the card. See Which Credit Card Issuers will Match a Higher Signup Bonus? for information on each card issuer. Chase used to always match for up to 90 days, as a matter of policy. However, for the past few years it’s been hit-or-miss: with certain offers Chase makes the decision to allow matching and others times not.

Regarding the new Sapphire Reserve and INK Unlimited offers, many reports are surfacing of Chase reps agreeing to match the newer increased offer and give the extra points. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

The Sapphire match is not entirely surprising. The INK match is more surprising given that it’s a branch-only or targeted offer. I speculate that the INK offer will become a public offer soon (possibly even to referral links?) and thus they’ve already coded the offer for matching.

In any case, if you applied for the Sapphire Reserve or INK Unlimited and possibly INK Cash card, it’s worth a secure message or phone call to see if they can match your offer. Let us know your own experiences in the comments below.

Has anyone had any success getting matched after an initial denial?

Can confirm that after an initial denial(via SM), I replied a day later and basically just asked again. A different agent responded that they were happy to give me the 15k points! Definitely seems to be a case of HUACA.

I applied for the CIB Cash card in June and earned the bonus in August.

Summary of messages:

My 1st Message: “I received the 75,000 signup bonus The bonus is now 90,000. Is it possible to get matched to the current offer?”

Chase 1st Reply: “You already received 75,000 for spending $7,500. Your account is not eligible for the new offer you requested.”

My 2nd Message: “Thanks! Is it possible to get the extra 15,000 for the $7500 spend I made per the current offer?”

Chase 2nd Reply: “Sure, I’ve added the additional 15,000 bonus points to your account to match the new offer!”

Very weird data points, I’m not exactly sure what happened.
6/27/22: approved for Chase Ink Cash
~9/27/22: received $750 cash back from original offer
11/6/22: asked for matching offer
11/6/22: Chase denied match

9/10/22: approved for Chase Ink Unlimited
as of 11/7/22: still need to spend another $500 to qualify for original $750 cash back offer
11/7/22: asked for matching offer
11/7/22: Chase approved $150 match, but credited it in my Chase Ink Cash rewards account. This is despite me inquiring about the Chase Ink Unlimited account

So I think that despite being denied originally, I have a good chance of getting matched for both, but I’m going to wait at least a week before I ask for the match again from my Ink Unlimited account.

I think when they credited, they made a mistake under which account to put it under.

Approved for the match but with the original $7500 spend. Not a huge deal since I was planning on that spend from the beginning. FWIW, approved via chase message service. They asked I message them back after completing the spend to add the additional points.

Thanks Doc!

This worked for me as well on Ink Cash, TY as always DoC. Applied 10/24, SM’d them 10/26:

“Thank you for writing to us about the enrollment bonus. I am glad to share that we will match the offer you requested to earn 90,000 bonus points after you spend $7,500.00 in first three months from account opening. Our records show that you have not met the spending requirement yet. Once you meet the required spend, please reply to this email to claim the offer and we will add the additional points.”
