• Altra Bank is offering bonuses of up to $700 for opening different accounts:
  • Get a bonus of $100 when you open a new A+ checking or A+ Platinum account and complete the following requirements:
    • Receive a direct deposit
  • Get a bonus of $100 when you open a new Thrive Certificate with a $25,000 or more deposit of new funds not on deposit at Altra (A+ checking or A+ Platinum required). 10 month certificate earns 2.5% APY and 27 month earns 2.75% APY
  • Get a bonus of $500 when you open a new Best Life Money Market with a $25,000 or more deposit of new funds previously not on deposit at Altra (0.70% APY for $25,000-$49,999.99)

Checking bonus: 

• $100 cash bonus available for new and existing Altra members who open a new A+ Platinum or A+ Checking with direct deposit; Offer void if Altra member has an existing A+ Platinum/A+ Checking or an A+ Platinum/A+ Checking account that was closed within the last 30 days.
• $100 will be deposited into new checking account within 30 business days of account opening.
• Direct deposit required within 30 days of account opening. One A+ Platinum or A+ Checking per member; one cash bonus per member; personal accounts only. For tax purposes, $100 cash bonus may be reported as dividends. Limited time offer.

Certificate bonus:

• $100 cash bonus available for new and existing Altra members who open a new Thrive Certificate with a $25,000 or more deposit of new funds previously not on deposit at Altra. A+ Platinum or A+ Checking account required to receive bonus.
• $100 will be deposited into Altra checking account within 30 business days of account opening.

I wasn’t able to find the full fee schedule so unsure if there is an early account termination fee or not.

Our Verdict

It doesn’t look like there is a minimum deposit length from the money market deal, but maybe I’m missing something. If that’s true then obviously the money market bonus is incredible and definitely worth doing. The CD rates are competitive to the top tier high yield accounts, but the minimum deposit length is 10 months so that’s really a case of whether you want to tie up funds for that long or not. The checking account bonus is relatively small and requires a direct deposit, but still worth doing if it’s a soft pull. Please share your experiences with these bonuses in the comments below.
