[Expired] AmEx Offer (Platinum Cards): Dell, Spend $100+ & Receive $100 Statement Credit

Deal has ended, view more Dell deals by clicking here.

Update, a few notes: 1) some are not seeing it on the web login, but seeing the offer in the app (as always, be sure it’s not the limit 50/100 that’s causing you issues); 2) reports are this one is showing on the primary card AND on authorized user cards, be sure to check; 3) added a direct link below to a webpage on Dell site

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer | Direct Link

  • Get a one-time $100 statement credit by using your enrolled Amex Platinum card to spend a minimum of $100 or more in one or more transactions online at Dell.com/amexplat or via phone at 800-291-3355

  • Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card.

  • Not valid on purchases shipped outside the US, Puerto Rico, USVI and Guam. See merchant website for shipping policy.
  • Some merchants may not ship to all areas
  • . Offer is non-transferable
  • . Limit of 1 statement credit per Card Member.
  • The enrolled Card account must not be cancelled or past due to receive statement credit.
  • Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 1/31/2021, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase.

Our Verdict

Incredible offer, basically a free $100 to spend at Dell. Business Platinum cardholders are already getting an additional $100 in statement credits (in addition to the standard $100 they normally get). Dell does let you split payment over multiple cards so it should be possible to stack those if you have the business and personal card. It looks like this is only showing on Vanilla platinum cards and not the Charles Schwab/Morgan Stanley cards.

I just bought a Samsung sound bar minutes ago (1/30) and the expected ship date is 2/1. My card hasn’t been charged yet but AMEX sent me an email saying I redeemed the offer. Does Dell charge the card at time of shipment? If so, then I might be out of luck.

Shipment date. Appears you’re out of luck.

The pending charge showed up on my AMEX account about an hour or two after I posted. I then got the email indicating that I will get the credit. But since shipment date is expected to be 2/1, I think that’s when the charge will finalize.

I just ordered a Samsung 512GB MicroSD card ($99.99), plus a cheap Ethernet cable (I wasn’t sure if the $100 had to be before sales tax, though that seems unlikely).
I got a confirmation email from Amex within about a minute (“Great news! You just used your Amex Offer for $100.00 cash back at DELL US COMPUTER SALES”). I hope that even if the charge remains in pending status until past 1/31, the email means Amex will recognize the purchase as having occurred during the required period.
The Amex app on my phone still shows the offer in the “Added to the Card” category.

OK I’m *REALLY* hoping this won’t be a problem, but…. I just placed an order with Dell, purchased two items for $55 + $140 + tax == $215. I split it between my Plat and P2’s Plat for charges of $115 + $110. I checked my Amex account and it shows pending charges that look like:

Jan 27 Pending DELL US COMPUTER SALES $31.29
Jan 27 Pending DELL US COMPUTER SALES $78.93

I did not get an alert on my phone indicating that an offer had been triggered, which usually (but not always) happens immediately. Can anyone offer reassurance that these two pending charges will be merged into one to trigger the offer/credit?

(Also, I used befrugal.com to get cashback on the deal, so I didn’t use the dell.com/amexplat link, but several comments here indicate that should be ok, correct?)

I just realized that my concern about it showing up as two separate charges is not the right thing for me to be worried about… What I *SHOULD* be worried about is whether Dell will ship my order (and finish charging our cards) before Jan 31. However – the order status on my Dell account lists an estimated ship date of Jan 29, and both p2 and I have received our confirmation emails that we’ve used our Dell/Amex offers. So I’m *guessing* that’s pretty good news unless Dell delays shipping?

Finally used the credit on two Eneloop kits (K-KJ17MCC82A) and another 4 eneloop AAA (BK-4MCCA4BA) for a total of $100.55! Couldn’t be more perfect and I’m set on rechargables for a long time.

I’ve split and paid $100 on personal Platinum and another Amex business card,. Didn’t see the credit
Called 800-297-7500 (this is supposedly the right dept for this kind of issues)
CSR put for investigation and after a week they’ve denied me credits on both cards claiming I didn’t click the link..
Are there any datapoints if this could be because of splitting the payment?
I still have the offer, I wonder if my order can be re-run, returned and charged by Dell again?
Thanks

Can anyone confirm they definitely got their credit when buying a $100 Microsoft Xbox gift card?

I just used it for xbox e-gift cards (over two transactions, taking advantage of the 10% off the $100 and $50 gcs) and I immediately got the notification that the amex offer was triggered. I’m expecting to see the credit soon, if not I’ll update this.

Will this credit apply to anything on the Dell website? The language in the offer pertaining to dell/amex and the UI of the website is confusing

This is aggrevating, I added this offer to my card a while back and now I just checked to go use it and it is completely gone. Has anyone experienced this?

Same with me, i had the offer and it said it expired 1/31/2021. Just went to make a purchase and offer is missing. Contacted Amex and they said I never had offer and they cant add it back. Escalated to a supervisor – no dice. I guess if you have it, use it .
