[Expired] [Business Cards] AmEx Offer: 10% Back At Exxon Mobil, $100 Limit

This offer has now expired, view more American Express offers by clicking here.

Reposting as offer is showing up again if you weren’t able to enroll before. Try using this link if you still can’t get it to show.

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Spend up to $1,000 in one or more transactions at the pump at Exxon Mobil and get 10% back in statement credits.

The Fine Print

  • Limit of $100 in total statement credits per American Express Card Member.
  • Expires November 30, 2018.
  • Purchases such as Speedpass and Speedpass+ mobile app transactions are included if the account is linked to your enrolled Card.
  • Excludes all other transactions such as, but not limited to, purchases inside convenience stores, car washes, automotive repair, aviation & marine fuel, garage services, Esso & XTO brands, stations in Guam and other international locations, and gift cards.

Our Verdict

As far as I know you can’t purchase any gift cards at these locations with a credit card, but 10% back on gas will be useful for some people. I suspect a lot of readers already get deeply discounted gas through other promotions though, so not as exciting as the Lowe’s/Staples deals we just posted about. You should be able to stack with Swagbucks for another 10c off when using speedpass.

if u fly J/F, this may not make sense for CB vs MR unless u have the amex BBP. this is $100 CB vs the opp cost which is a few k of MR.

Used the offer today using the SpeedPass+ app linked to my SimplyCash Plus card with the offer… got the charge notification, but no Amex Offer email. Did anyone else receive an email when redeeming this offer yet?

I used the offer and no email either. I also used Staples and Lowe’s today as well…no emails for those either. I don’t seem to get emails for % off promos from amex anymore, but it all comes through correctly on the statement.

I didn’t receive emails, but I have seen the credit post at Exxon and Lowe’s. I used Speedpass + Samsung Pay + Amex BB+ + Swagbucks. I got 10c off/gallon + samsung pay credit + 10% from Amex + MR + the swagbucks.

Does anyone have any prior experience with purchases inside the store NOT counting for a promo like this? I know the terms say “pay at pump” but shouldn’t they all process as ExxonMobil purchases?

I’m 4 hours away from the closest one so I can’t easily test this out.

I got this on Blue Biz+, Biz Plat, SPG Biz, SimplyCash+

I know when getting the $5 back on $25 “directly at the pump” does not work if trying to buy in the store. I could never fill $25 so I tried to use the store and it did not count.

Got to say though, this would only be for emergencies for me. I just filled up at Mobil, $4.04/gallon, 10 cents off with Speedpass plus the 10% off from Amex and it works out to $3.55/gallon. Costco sells it for $3.49 (plus 4% Citi card). I wasn’t going that way tonight and needed gas so it worked out but certainly not something I’ll be using on an ongoing basis.

The credit card at pump wasn’t working so I paid inside. I got the credit anyway (under Exxon Mobil inside). Not sure if it would work for non-gas purchases.

Judging by those prices you’re in the West Coast or NE. I have yet to see an Exxon that wasn’t at least 10-15c/gallon less when you factor in 10% from Amex + 10c/gallon. Gas here at Exxon is about $2.859/gallon. That works out to $2.759/gallon – 10% = $2.483/gallon. Costco here is $2.649/gallon.

Should stack with 10c off if using speedpass. I do not think the discount of the “other promotions” are as easy as this.

I haven’t found a 10c off…only a 6c. Could you please elucidate? Thx.

I confirm this works, however there is an issue with the Speedpass app if the merchant is not participating in Plenti that prevents authorization of the pump.

Whew, stacked with Speedpass+ Dosh+Swagbucks local you’re talking 10 cents off a gallon and then 14% off after that, not mentioning card rewards. Quite a deal.

You can’t stack with Dosh+Swagbucks. It’s one or the other.

Yes, it will prevent you from adding the card to the second one.

Maybe all these targeted Amex offers could be put in one post. Just cluttering up the site. Like you are spamming your own site.

Each of these offers is so significant at such major merchants I think they merit their own post. These ain’t $5 pizza coupons.

If you don’t care to read a certain type of post you can just skip over it. I skip over some that don’t apply to me so you can too.

It is every day like 4 or 5 of them. I never have any of these targeted offers. If you want to see what you are targeted for go to the Amex site.
