Avoiding Fees
This account has a $4 fee that you cannot avoid, you’ll be charged an additional $5 per month if you choose to receive a paper statement as well. You must keep the account open for a minimum of 90 days otherwise you will forfeit the bonus. There is also an early account termination fee of $75.
Our Verdict
They used to offer a $200 checking bonus with no requirements, that was obviously significantly better than this bonus with a lot of requirements. The only benefit to this new bonus is you can also get $50 for opening a savings account. Personally I’d wait and hope that the no bonus requirement bonus comes back. Their sister bank (KS, MO, NE, IA, WY, CO) has a similar bonus for $100 with no bonus requirement and you can do both if you live in an overlapping state.
For now I won’t be adding this to our list of the best bank account bonuses due to the fact they have offered better bonuses in the past.
