Per Target policy they are supposed to refund in-store returns bought online with paypal in cash. Some aren’t comfortable giving out large refunds in cash, but if you push the issue, they will eventually get you a cash refund. Point to their policy if you get hassled or otherwise try another store if you can. You have to wait until the next day after pickup to return it, otherwise they’re system wont recognize your receipt and they will be forced to give you a gift card.

I’ve bought with PayPal on Target.com before, and when returning, they gave me cash. This was well within the return window, though. And I assume that the 5% cashback I got from Discover’s PayPal quarter offer still remained as a result. Works for me

Used Paypal for a recent JCrew purchase for Chase 5x Freedom and my girlfriend took some stuff back for me. They told her they couldn’t refund original purchase method because it was Paypal and they actually let her put her own card in for the refund. Incredible. This may just be that particular store, I have no idea, but may explore more.

Now that you say this, I’m remembering a few years ago there was a purchase I made at maurices.com and paid for through PayPal, and I returned a few items from it in-store. They said they couldn’t refund me directly because I’d used PayPal and instead issued store credit for the refund amount.

For 8K you can spend 1 night at this Marriott hotel or 1 whole month at a $250 a night hotel. I know which I would choose.

Interesting about the PayPal refunds.

I was skeptical about the refunds process when I first started using PayPal during Discover’s/Chase’s 5x quarters, but I seemed to to have no problems. I didn’t use PayPal at Target, though, nor did any of my returns involve in-store pickup.

I’ve successfully gotten a refund via PayPal (back to the original credit card used) when returning items purchased from Walmart.com, Vitacost, and Provantage. These were returned by mail.
