I tried doing a push from my Chime account of $400 to the Sofi account, however, I am not sure if it coded the transfer as a direct deposit. Is there a way to check this?

On my Sofi account it shows this info:
Debit Date: Aug 18
Description: Stride Bank
Type: Deposit
Amount: $400.00
Merchant: Stride Bank P2P
Then it also shows “ACH ID: [my name]”

Wondering if I should try to do this again through something else like Wise.

KC “Merchant” in the description is not a good sign. If it was treated as Direct Deposit, it would say “Direct Deposit Payer” instead of “Merchant”.

8/18 opened account
8/19 Rakuten shows $0.00 cashback pending

Am I cooked?

Phosphene Not necessarily cooked. After you have made a “Direct Deposit” at least in the amount required by Rakuten, then a non-zero amount should show as Pending in Cash Back Activities.

Looks like $125 now from Rakuten?

8/14 – Transfered $501 from Chime (Bancorp) to SoFi, coded as Merchant
8/16 – Initiated $1,018 transfer from Wise.
8/18 – Wise transfer posted as Merchant, including my reference ‘Payroll DD’
Rakuten has been pending since Chime transfer, but amount is 0.00
Looks like the Chime and Wise workaround is cooked. Sad times fools.

Not cooked. I’m not sure why your Chime transfer to Sofi coded as Merchant. I also have Chime (Bancorp) and initiated a transfer this morning and it coded as direct deposit. $400 shows in Rakuten now for me. Kind of peculiar that yours coded differently.

It seems WISE is no longer working

Aug 12th – transfer from WISE approx. $2k counted as Direct Deposit
Aug 18th – transfer from WISE approx. $3k counted as Regular Deposit

both included note : Payroll DD

Doomed, same with me. I too have failed with the chime(bancorp) to Sofi transfer today. It shows Chime3_Debit for me in the Sofi app.

I asked my payroll team well in advance to make sure they changed the DD so that I would not have resorted to this – but they fucked up.

And now this…

Negative DP on Wise “PAYROLL DD” attempt in to SoFi checking. This was a churn attempt via Swagbucks after closing account after previous successful Rakuten opening earlier this summer. Can’t win them all

Does Wise use different banks on the bank end? That could explain why some transfers are still working now, and others aren’t. The routing number for my Wise account is 026073150 (Community Federal Savings Bank) but I haven’t tried transferring anything to Sofi yet. For those that have succeeded or failed, respond to this with your routing number (or bank name), date of transfer, and whether it coded as a direct deposit or a regular deposit. Let’s get some DPs going to figure out what’s going on.

Yes, different banks. My Wise account uses Column Bank (routing #084009519). Scheduled 2 DD’s (both 2 days in advance) from Wise to Sofi checking with PAYROLL DD in reference on 6/26 and 7/1. Both coded as ACH ID: PAYROLL DD

P2’s Wise account is Community Federal Savings Bank. Scheduled 2 DD’s (both 2 days in advance) from Wise to Sofi checking with PAYROLL DD in reference on 7/1 and 7/3. Both coded as ACH ID: PAYROLL DD

Rakuten bonuses paying out tomorrow. Not sure if something has changed on Sofi’s end since July.

Dan My Wise account uses Column Bank. I added money to it from Ally Savings then sent to SoFi and OnePay. Money was sent/received on the same day I initiated the transfer and recorded as ACH (Direct) Deposit.

Meant to say Bancorp, not Community Federal Savings Bank… that’s Sofi.

7/30 Created Rakuten account and renrolled via $400 link
8/14 $2,501 real DD from work (a day early, my biweekly work DDs post to other accounts on Fridays), plus got a “you earned Cash Back for the first time ever” email from Rakuten

Signed up using a Rakuten portal a few weeks back and credited the $400 today, additional $25 pending in Rakuten for Sofi plus (free with any DD). Will cancel Sofi plus to avoid monthly fees in a few days

Anyone know if I can refer someone to invest, and then if they’d still be eligible for the Rakuten sign up bonus?
