[Expired] [Direct Link Added] AmEx Offer: Shop Small, Spend $10+ & Receive $5 Statement Credit (Limit 2)

Deal has ended, view more American Express deals by clicking here.

Update 7/1/21: Direct link has been added, but that only works for third party cards that run on the American Express payment network and not cards issued by Amex.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $10 or more directly at any business on the Shop Small Map (or Online Directory) in the US or US territories by 8/22/2021.

The Fine Print

  • Limit of 2 statement credits (total of $10 back) per Card Member

Our Verdict

We knew that American Express would be offering some cardholders up to $10 in credits, but didn’t know what form it would take. Hopefully all (most) cardholders are eligible, but these shop small offers have gotten progressively worse over time sadly.

I bought Fluz on August 18 (two transactions) and the $5 credit has not posted, two weeks later. This is disappointing.

I got this offer on 2 third party Amex CC’s, B of A and US Bank Flex Perks Select Plus. On one, I purchased 2 $15 Amazon gift cards from Fluz and the $5 credits posted 4 days later. On the other, I purchased a $10 gift card from a local business and the $5 credit posted, but then I bought a $10 Target e-gift card from Egifter and the credit did not post.

I am doing a Fluz gift card purchase on that card last minute today because the Egifter purchase did not trigger a Congrats email like the other 3 purchases did. I don’t think that the Egifter purchase will automatically trigger the credit even though Egifter is clearly listed in the Amex shop small directory.

Does $10+ mean that you need to spend more than $10.00? In other words, a $10.00 purchase may not qualify…?

No. It literally means $10 or more.

Does eGifter still participate?

It is listed as an online store but computer and software store…

Have anyone gotten the credit yet? I spent a week ago in a store within the shop small map. Still no sight of credit.

rfclub how did you know that you were targeted?
Did you have the offer with add to card button or only had the map?

The $5 off $10 offer showed up in Amex offer list. And I added that to card.

What was the wording on the site? I trying to search for it.
Have not found it with “spend $5” or “get $10”

The wording is “Spend $10+, get $5 back up to 2 times (total of $10) after you Shop Small”.
Still no sight of the credit. other amex offer posted quickly.

1 of my credits took at least a week after the purchase (not Fluz) to post. Keep on checking.

Did anyone buy the Walmart Grocery card? I see it listed in Fluz; is it a regular gc I can add to Walmart Pay, or do I need to use it specifically with Walmart Grocery orders?

I have the same question. Did you try it?

I have not yet; I’ve been buying Domino’s GC with vouchers to hit the $26 lifetime earnings to cash. But Fluz told me that they are regular Walmart GC except they have grocery as the MCC.

I noticed that Fluz added Acme and Albertsons gc (minimum $15) along with some other supermarkets since the last time I logged in. That could be useful for someone that shops at any of those stores.

Eric
Do they have Amazon or Walmart, and if so what’s the minimum purchase?

Yes to both Amazon and Walmart, but they sometimes go out of stock for a few days. Minimum purchase varies by gift card, but is $15 for these two.

When I did my purchase, Amazon was not available. I didn’t check Walmart.

I checked the Shop Small map and FluzPay is still listed there so I decided to test out a purchase. I bought a Domino’s gc and immediately received the email notification from Amex that I’ll be receiving the $5 credit. My Domino’s gc did not round up for what it’s worth.

Eric Were you targeted and added to offer to your card or are you saying this is working regardless ? TIA

My Amex issued cards (ie BCP) were not targeted. I added the offer to my 2 non-Amex issued (ie WF) cards.

That “direct link” from the Amex Connect website is only for cards on the Amex network that are issued by other banks (such as the WF Propel), it is not for cards issued by Amex. Should mention that so people don’t waste their time for something that won’t work.
