Reuters is reporting that Amazon will delay Prime Day until August at the earliest. Amazon first introduced Prime Day in 2015 and in previous years it has run on the following dates:
Because of this delay Amazon is expecting a $100 million hit from 5 million excess devices it may have to sell at a discount.
As long as 20% off with MR refreshes as usual, I welcome prime day
It’s not going to be a good deal anyway. Just looking at how all the stuff saved in my cart have gone up a few dollars each the last couple weeks things are going to be more expensive.
Whatever will I do now to buy endless amounts of Amazon branded listening devices at a discount? Prime day has pretty much been nothing but echos, alexas, kindles, etc every year for last few years anyway.
For a company the size of amazon I’m a little surprised they even bother to disclose a potential $100M hit. That is like me disclosing the loose change fell out of my pocket.
Maybe it has something to do with being over a penny per share, but when your share price is 1900+ that is a pretty low threshold.
It’s also weird to me that the cost of excess amazon devices would be an issue for them, unless they were planning on shipping new versions after prime day? They already discount those very aggressively as they mostly just generate additional revenue for amazon.
Next you are gonna say they are postponing Christmas. /s
