I’d recommend following us on Twitter as we will tweet new deals as we seem them. This post contains our Amazon affiliate links, we appreciate those who support the site by using our links. As always make sure you read our guide to saving money on Amazon as well.

Prime Day starts two hours early for voice shoppers, beginning at 4 pm ET you’ll see special deals on this Alexa page.

In addition to exclusive early access with Alexa, Prime members also have access to Alexa deals through July 17. Offers will change, so be sure to ask, “Alexa, what are your Prime Day deals?” often to get the latest information on deals including:

Lead Up Deals (Valid through July 11 or Longer)

As mentioned in the introduction Amazon already have a number of deals active in the lead up to prime day. If you’re interesting in any of these deals, I do them now/read the fine print carefully to see when they expire. Let’s take a look at some of these deals:

How To Get A Cheap/Discount Prime Membership

Prime normally costs $99 per year or you can pay $10.99 per month. There are a number of ways to save on a Prime Membership:

Stack & Save

It’s possible to stack lots of different deals and discounts on Amazon, we have a complete guide to all of your options here.

Our Verdict

One of the great things about Amazon at the moment is it’s possible to stack different deals and save up to 25% of the listed price. Obviously if items are discounted this makes that method any better. We will have a stickied post on July 11th (really night of the 10th) trying to cover the best deals. I hope they continue to improve prime day and don’t just use it as an opportunity to dump inventory but at this stage my expectations are suitably low.

As always a big thanks to any readers that support the site by using our Amazon affiliate links, it means a lot to us when you do. Just keep in mind you could be getting 3x JetBlue points instead.

Another useless prime day sale where the top discount was on a 55 gallon drum of Passion Lube

    • NinjaX says:

first time it was crap. everyone knew it. second time it was awesome. now this time? i hope its awesome x 100, but we will see. 2nd time was still really good.

  2. E says:

The instant pot made 2016 prime day worth it!! 😉

  3. The Value Traveler says:

There were also deals showing hourly during Prime Day….we wont know what good deals there are until day of

  4. R says:

there are amazon giveaways going on for Prime day, make sure you check daily

  5. Jelena says:

Any idea if deals would stack? For example there’s a deal to get a $10 amazon credit with the purchase of an Alexa only deal which includes the Echo for $35. There is also a deal for a $10 credit if you reorder something through Alexa. If I asked Alexa her deals and “reordered” another Echo, would I get $20 in credit? I feel like it’s pretty unlikely, probably given the wording you have to use to order.

  6. NoonRadar says:

Has anyone recently gotten cash back from any portals while buying Amazon gift cards, specifically restaurant ones if it makes a difference? I didn’t see anything on TopCashback and Befrugal but figured I’d ask in case someone has tested it and it worked on any of the sites.

Here’s the starting times (EST, for Prime members) for some restaurant gift card deals tomorrow (7/11) as stated currently on Amazon’s gift cards link (

    – Outback/Carrabba’s @ 4:34 am
    – Applebee’s @ 6:14 am
    – Panera @ 6:19 am
    – IHop @ 1:39 pm
    – TGI Fridays @ 5:24 pm
    – Chili’s/Macaroni @ 8:04 pm

The rest of the gift card deals are on the earlier DoC post:

  7. Dee says:

Any idea when the Game of Thrones Blu-ray deal is active?

  8. Mark O says:

Echo is half off right now

  9. Uncivil Engineer says:

Regarding the Anova Sous Vide cooker, I’ve been eyeing one for a little over a year. The idea of sous vide cooking is a novel and exciting cooking challenge for me, and from what I’ve seen elsewhere on Amazon, the Anova one is the best “beginner” one available on Amazon.

Currently attempting to use the AMEX17PRIME promo after using the AMEX17EVER offer earlier this year, along with other credits that I received from being a reader. 🙂

    • Uncivil Engineer says:

I should also mention that I’ve seen this same sous vide cooker for about $109 on other days, so it’s really just an additional $10 off.

  10. jared says:

Just to be clear, the Oculus rift is not a prime deal. It will be on sale for $399 for the next 6 weeks.

  11. Rich says:

Uhhh, Uber was gone at launch with a full wait list. I was clicking refresh as it went online. Congrats to the one person who received the deal!

  12. Tommy says:

Yea that Uber GC “deal” is bogus.

  13. Phil says:

Wow $100 Uber gift card for $79.. but all sold out instantly. Must be the bots

    • Mark says:

Got one too. Don’t refresh the page as it goes live… rule #1
Keep the page open 30 seconds before it goes live

  14. Lucas says:

Wow! $100 Uber just gone in less than 1 minute!

    • Michael says:

It was closer to 1 second

      • NIl says:

LOL. I got one. Don’t refresh the page. Browser refresh is always slower than an ‘ajax’ call (to refresh the price and that section of page) implemented by a good tech company like amazon.

  15. Jane says:

Buy $25 gc, receive $5 credit for prime members, today only.

  16. Sparky says:

FYI. Alexa wand deal, and many other prime only deals worked for both my prime account and my Amazon business account. I did have a lightening deal cancelled before when I bought a second one on the business account during black Friday. I think I used the same card though.

  17. ChiTown says:

I think the best deals are turning out to be the with the bug that lets you start an order with alexa and then proceed to big browser to clip whatever coupons are there/ S&S to place the order. The item still retain the alexa discount. Awesome.

  18. Michael says:

23 and me deal is over

  19. mk712 says: GC deal sold out in under a minute, wow. I barely made it.

I missed out on the Uber GC this morning (it was too early on the West Coast), I wonder how quickly that one sold out.

  20. CongestionCharge says:

Thanks, used the 5 of 15 book deal to buy hiking maps!

  21. Adam D says:

That 5hr energy berry shot deal is dead.

  22. NinjaX says:

so whos still complaining amazon prime day sucks balls? i wasnt ready for this years Amazon Black Friday. Blew other years out of the water.

    • John says:

Many people. It’s not that great, dude. The real question is how do some people think it is.

      • Chuck says:

The gift card deals were a real shame, but otherwise I thought there were a bunch of nice deals, even some broad-category deals.
I didn’t like the focus on voice ordering.

      • NinjaX says:

while I am not surprised about your take, at the same time, its a shame to hear you dont think its that good. that must mean you pretty much have everything you need in your house or youre somehow able to find better prices somewhere else.

personally for me, the prices i have seen are crazy. many electronics, games, personal care products, had lots of deals dude. then you stack it with so much other shit that its Black Friday today.

like i said, i was surprised today. i thot it was just going to be “okay/good” like other years. this time Amazon went all out. have you seen SD FP dude? its burning up with deals man.

also, did you see the Amazon live stream Prime Day home shopping network channel? its on the top page towards the right. click on it and they will intro a deal every hour live. impressive.

  23. Austin says:

Airbnb gone in under 1 second. Quite literally.

  24. Aaron H. says:

So on some of these gift cards, I had my finger on the button to search the second the cards went on sale. The cards sold out instantly. I was on the page ready to click “buy” 15 seconds after the Airbnb sale started and no cards at all. How does that happen? Is there a trick where you have to have it in your cart or something?

  25. Dimi says:

How can Amazon advertise the Airbnb deal with such a limited quantity?!? It was absolutely impossible to buy! Just like Austin said, It was gone under 1 second, with the waitlist full. It’s a shame on Amazon for not getting ready with enough supplies!

  26. Mark says:

When’s the 40 inch smart tv deal going live, anyone knows?

  27. Elisolyn says:

Briggs and Riley 27in Sympatico Medium Spinner in Burgandy is $328.84 + 30% off for a total of $230.19+ tax if anyone needs luggage for their free trips!

  28. Jane says:

Thanks for being on top of everything today! Refreshing the blog every ten minites was more interesting than work.

  29. Saf says:

Deals we’re good, but you had to know what you want and be ready/plan for it. I don’t remember last year’s, probably because it was lackluster.

Missed out on the deal like everyone else. The claimed progress bar was literally like deleting a 1kb file off your desktop fast…

Missed out in this power bank I wanted for $11!

I did end up picking up another one which CCC showed as the next cheapest price ever to be $3 more, but way back when. Pricier, but latest and greatest so should last me a while.

Did the $25 $5 back GC deal (thanks doc!)

Picked up a Dash Wand using my $10 promo from Amazon cash reload at CVS deal (thanks doc!)

Lastly picked up a lens for my camera which was on sale last week but sold out. Today was cheaper so hooray!

Overall I’m happy. I spent all of my Amazon credit that I’ve built up over the last few months from all the bonuses that doc posted and my small OVGC reloads.

Once again thanks for all you do. I know some people were annoyed by it, but I come to this site for deals, wherever they may be. Some obv don’t apply to me, but I move on when that happens and wish other could do the same instead of complaining.
