Bank of America Alaska 40,000 Miles + $100 Statement Credit

Update 7/3/19: Deal is still available, updated the link.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Bank of America is offering a bonus of 40,000 miles & a $100 statement credit on the Alaska Airlines card when you spend $2,000 or more within the first 90 days

Card Details

Our Verdict

Previous best offer on this card was either 40,000 miles or 30,000 miles + $100. It is worth noting that this 40,000 mile + $100 offer deal comes with the companion fare of $99 rather than the $0 fare those other offers came with, so essentially the same offer if you had planned to take advantage of that companion fare. If you don’t then this offer is $100/10,000 miles better than the previous best offer on this card. Overall I think this is a very strong offer if you value Alaska miles and I’ll be adding this to the best credit card sign up bonuses.  Before applying for this or any other Bank of America card, I’d recommend reading this post detailing everything you should know about their credit cards. There is also a bonus of 40,000 miles on the business version of this card, if anybody finds a link with the $100 statement credit as well let us know.

Excellent offer, if you can through at BofA.

I recently applied for this card for 40,000 miles only, will they match this up to include the $100 statement credit?

kek.. I just got my Alaska card yesterday. Ive heard BoA will match but can someone confirm?
Thanks

Ken

I get approved on Apr 5 and they say they don’t match any previous offer. Wonder if that changes if you got the card more recent

Paul

They don’t match any previous offers. I have tried with multiple agents by email and phone calls when I applied my cash rewards card 2 days before they changed the bonus from $150 to $200…

Is this available in the Business card version or personal only?

Just applied and was denied. $170K HH income, 800 FICO score, trying to get ahold of the reconsideration line. 5 new CC accounts in my name in the last 12 months.

Was told that they don’t have a reconsideration line and I have to wait for the letter and submit in writing via the mail. Anyone have any suggestions?

Doc lists multiple Bank of America reconsideration lines. It seems that Bank of America does not have a dedicated number for personal reconsideration. But try the following numbers listed on Doc’s article:
1-866-224-8555
1-866-224-7803
1-800-354-0401
1-866-505-7481

When I tried those they all said those lines are inactive. It seems like they cull the lines often. I’m wondering if this is a change in process now. At any rate, thanks for the reply!

1-800-354-0401, direct line to BofA credit analyst. Just ask for reconsideration

I argued with recon for 15 min and didn’t get anything.

I think that might be the biggest thing to avoid, arguing. As soon as the call turns south just hang up call again and try to avoid arguing or hostility. There are more fish(cards) in the sea don’t let not catching this one right now ruin your day. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Good luck in your future applications my friend.

Please note: “This card will not be available to you if you currently have or have had the card in the preceding 24 month period.”

Maybe add a link to this DOC article? https://www.doctorofcredit.com/bank-of-america-adds-24-month-churning-rule-per-card-alaska-cash-rewards-etc/

I know that this is a recent event- but this is almost as bad as the CSR/CSP 48 month verbiage.

It’s also sucks because of the previous BS with Platinum Plus and Biz CD. B of A must hate me ( but they do like P#2).

Likely will just close PT+ card before next AF. No sense in keeping it with AS biz card.

Few good options for collecting AS miles.

important info that needs to be called out. alaska personal cards have a 24 month restriction in addition to the standard boa 2/3/4 restriction:

Nestled in the terms and conditions of all of the personal Alaska Airlines credit card offers: “This card will not be available to you if you currently have or have had the card in the preceding 24 month period. This does not apply to the business credit card product.”

It’s probably not worth it to get a reject for a hard pull for BOA for people > 5/24. Somehow, I still get rejected for being a plat honors client.

Matt
Matt

Yeah I learned my lesson. 4 of my last hard pulls the last 24 months have been for offers on this card, lmfao. I’ve just given up with boa.

J
J

Almost the same situation for me. I’ve been outright denied by BoA for the AS card twice in the past year, denied for the Premium Rewards, and denied for the cash rewards all in the last ~18 months. Not a single BoA approval for me since they gave me an AS Plat (my 4th Alaska from BoA) in December 2016.

I think I may have burned a bridge with them :/

Same here. Alaska personal, business, business. Within the last 2 years. All 3 denials.

I’m 9/24 and was approved 2 weeks ago.

boa is very strange and hard to figure out. similar to barclays. for boa, violating the 2/3/4 rule guarantees a rejection, but if you abide by it, its far from guaranteeing an approval. business cards have much better odds of approval in my experience, if you dont get hit with the additional docs request

They shot me down for 4/12, in the verbal description over the phone

I was approved for this about 3 weeks ago. Last AS card closed one year ago. Didn’t know about 24 month rule and assumed I would be denied. Went pending and then card showed up 3 weeks after applying. Somehow I was approved despite the 24 month rule

BaconSF

I thought 24 month rule applies to the sign up bonus

“They will sometimes approve you for a Platinum Plus Visa or Preferred Visa card which has different annual fees and sign up bonus.”

This isn’t the case anymore. All cards have same annual fee and bonus now.

does anyone actually get connected to the link other than seeing a red circle turning?

Just got the Alaska card a couple of days ago. Cannot chat to discussed credit cards. So I had to call for match to new offer, rep cannot pull up the offer with the web address, and cannot accept emails with screen shots. Any ideas?

aubergine

Declined, at 4/12. Called recon – they said too many new accounts over last 12mos. 800+ FICO. They pulled experian. Stated I had opened up new lines equal to half my income, even though I only use 3%. Said that opening up a relationship (Merrill Edge or Banking would not change their decision)

BOA has been sending me mailers probably every single month for a year plus trying to get me to get a card….so I try for Alaska and get the NFW. At least the recon guy was very nice and explanatory, if unyielding. I wasted 20 min of his and mine time trying to find some way to get to yes but he wouldn’t budge.

Applied for this early last week w/o the statement credit only to find out late last week that this offer was now available. Just called to match and CSR mentioned I would have had to apply through the new link and that they don’t have the ability to change my offer…

Jay
Jay

Approved for 10k. something like 4/24 with only one pull on experian. 2 old BoA cards.

Newbie
Newbie

Approved. I was hesitant to apply after seeing some Platinum Honorees rejected but applied anyways. 8/24 and 4/12 but credit score dropped from 847 (Jan) to 815. I will take a break from credit cards now for 6 months.
I have a long relationship with bank, platinum honors and mortgage so that helps i guess. only cash card and premier card with them.

will a personal code via mail invite likely get approved?

Emily

I would like to know this as well. In addition, I have trouble finding the 24-mon statement in the link provide here (thought I read the section of “New Account Bonus Miles and Companion Fare Offer” thoroughly). Help!

jan

Applied and approved a platinum card. Called to confirm the new account bonus, was told 40K miles but they could not find the $100 statement credit on file. I have the screenshot but hope the statement credit will post automatically.

Please let us know. I had them say the same thing to me after being approved.
