Those who didn’t get the bonus until calling: did you have your account opened before the 26th of January, or did some/any of you have it opened after 26th? (due to ID verification – birthday, social security, etc. – taking longer as you have to upload documents)

They’re saying I’m ineligible because even though the application was done on the 25th, the bank itself didn’t open the account until a few days later.. Ugh!

Before the 26th.

I get the impression that C1 is less than accommodating if they think they can get away with it. I’d suggest opening an issue with the CFPB.

I waited for a few weeks to see if they’d post the bonus. I got tired of waiting and called. They were very nice, but said that BONUS400 wasn’t attached. I mentioned that I had a screenshot, they referred to another group. It was posted a couple days later.

Like many others here, I did not get the bonus despite fulfilling the requirements. I called to open a ticket and they manually posted it about a week later.

Jan 11: applied for account
Jan 12: Approved for account
Jan 13: called to confirm if code was on there. Code was not. Rep said it is noted on file that code was suppose to be on but didn’t register. Check on 05/31 or 06/01 to see if bonus will post.
Jan 22: $1000 DD from Work
Feb 05: $1000 DD from Work
June 1: No bonus posted. Called and asked about bonus. They said they will open file to research. Would take up to 20 days
June 7: $400 bonus posted.

What to do?
What to do?

I have already received the bonus. I am now just wondering if I should close this in the hopes churning it later, or leave it open as it might help me with other DD requirements by pushing from this account.

Any data/comments on how frequently they run bonuses?

Somewhere on reddit, I saw that only these banks make sense to keep open:
Wells Fargo, for premium cards
Bank of America
US Bank
Citi

Has anyone found a way to contact CapitalOne via email or live chat? My S/O is hard of hearing & has a tough time with customer reps/agents on the phone..

Thanks in advance!

I googled around and only found that they got rid of written communication a few years ago and you need to call in

I just found this, which might help: https://www.capitalone.com/support-center/bank/360-contact

If you have a fax, that might work

Thanks JT. I think we’ll have to go by fax or letter. Stupid bank…

The slimy arses are trying to avoid taking into account the date of application (Jan.25th) but only the actual account opening date (Jan.28th):

“Our research confirmed that in order to be eligible for the BONUS400 offer your 360 Checking had to of been opened between November 9, 2020 and January 26, 2021. Our records indicate that your 360 Checking ending in XXXX was opened on January 28, 2021, which makes you ineligible for the BONUS400 offer.

While we know this isn’t the response you were hoping for, we will not be honoring the bonus as you did not meet all of the requirements.”

Even though I found the email to the office of the president (where the above communication came from), I didn’t get a response until after I sent them a physical letter. I explained to them that it makes no sense to not account the date of application (how are customers supposed to account for the amount of time the bank takes to open an account), and if they don’t reconsider and apply the bonus I’ll release the email here and on Social Media channels, plus contact the CFPB and BBB about their insincere offer terms.

I called in and it was the same as others – no record of the signup code, but they’ll create a case. The rep seems awaare that there are many people calling in but there is no action yet to look at the problem systemically. Capital Oneis making each person call individually. Here’s the phone and prompt steps to make it seem easier:
1. call 888 810 4013
2. Say “missing bank account bonus” when prompted

It takes ~10-15 minutes, including hold while they look into it, which is longer than I like. The rep was nice. Unfortunately my wife needs to call in separately, they can’t just take two account numbers.
