Our Verdict
This is a semi frequent offer, they had the same offer earlier this year. Don’t forget to go through a portal, current best rates are up to 5%. There doesn’t seem to be any sort of gift card restriction in the fine print, so those purchases should work. Unfortunately gift cards that are $30 face value actually sell for $28.98 so not enough to trigger this offer (although non members get charged a 10% surcharge, this would trigger the offer). Not as good as the deal that gave us 20% back with a maximum of $250 back per card, but still useful. There is also currently a good deal on Sam’s Club membership, more on that here. You can split payment across two cards, so purchasing a $60 gift card would trigger the offer on two cards.

wow, I am amazed with Amex, even though I ordered way before the deadline, but somehow Sams Club screwed up on the billing date, I got credit on 4 cards!
I did not get the $15 back either so I tried AMEX chat through their website.
The rep said:
‘I see the offer was enrolled on June 10th, 2018 on both the accounts. We’re aware of the situation that merchant is submitting the charges later than when it was made actually…’
They then said that they’d manually credit me the $15 to the card that was supposed to get the offer.
Got my GC last week, but charge data is 6/15.
Anyone know how to activate it? Read through the previous comment, seems that I should receive another email with activation instruction.
But I never got it so far.

Mine was charged on 6/15 too. I emailed SC and they activated manually, eventually I got the email too.
I call it a conspiracy theory to avoid fulfilling the Amex sync promo: The Charge posted today and got shipping notification and activation email as well – more than 15 days after the actual receipt and activation by CS. Grrrr…..
Will try one chat with Amex, but not worth wasting more time than that for 15 bux…at least I got the CB for this.
I can not believe how incompetent the Sam’s club customer service reps are and this company is still in business. No wonder Costco is doing well. I am on hold again trying to get my gift cards before the cut off date. I ordered them last week. No tracking. No status updates. Only one date given at purchase but that has gone by. She says I should call shipper to find package without tracking.
I ordered $35 worth of items from Samsclub.com and selected store pickup. The charge posted on 6/9. I never got any email from AMEX, nor have I received my $15 promo.
Do the GCs come activated?
I did NOT receive an activation email this time around.
I’m seeing several reports of no “congrats” email.
Did credits ever post correctly?
Placed order for Sam’s Club gc on 5/14 and received the cards on 5/21. Called in to activate the gc’s on 5/24. I still have not been charged on my Amex card and it still says “Ready to Ship” on my Sam’s Club account. It’s getting close to the 6/14 offer expiration.
Are your cards activated after contacting them?
Yes, they were activated 1 day later.
even my orders from 05/14 not charged yet. tickets opened again and again. all gc’s activated on request and spent already.
Same thing happening with me. Contacted them 3 times already about not being charged yet, and they keep opening tickets. Not sure what to do at this point. Most people on Slickdeals who ordered Sam’s GC on 5/14 were sent the activation emails on 6/1 and were charged already.
Finally Got shipping notification today and card showed the charges.so no hope for amex credit .really sucks.
Contact Amex via chat. They will most likely credit you the $15.
I waited until 5/30 hoping this glitch would be resolved by then and ordered. Pretty much same as most others here. Contacted by chat and then emailed card number last week and it was then activated but still no charge to Amex. Sent email, still no charge. I see this as either a free Walmart GC or if they do charge (this may be a “strategic” glitch as a way for them to avoid paying the amex sync discount for GCs) after the end of the sync offer, will contact Amex to get the get the $15 credit since my order and SHIP dates are clearly before the end of the offer.

Slightly related question: anyone knows that if we can consolidate the sam’s club gift cards in walmart store?
I was going to make a purchase of ~ $200 and the item is only sold on walmart online. It seems that you can only use 5 gift cards in one single order online. Is there a workaround for the situation? Thanks.
From memory, you can combine Walmart gift cards, both in-store and online.
Thanks. I couldn’t find a way to combine the gift cards online. Here is what I found in “gift card terms and conditions”:
“No Consolidation for New Walmart Gift Card. You may not consolidate or combine multiple Walmart Gift Cards to purchase a new Walmart Gift Card. Walmart.com does not consolidate or combine multiple gift cards into one gift card per customer requests.”
5/14: 2 x $20 Order placed
5/21: 2 x $20 GC received
6/1: super poorly formatted email received saying GCs just shipped with tracking saying they arrived 5/21
Still no charge on my card and the GC aren’t showing when I check the balances…order status says ready to ship.
What a well-organized and efficient model this is. Time for 3rd party gc?
have the same issue with sam’s gift card purchase. i have 6 amex cards with the offer. gift card received but no charge posted to my credit card.. if problem can’t be solved by 6/10, i will cancel those orders and buy 3rd party gift cards instead….
