The Fine Print

  • To qualify for the $200 bonus, open your very first 360 Money Market account online and deposit at least $10,000 no later than 6/30/2017 11:59 p.m. (If you currently have or have had a Savings product with Capital One Bank, Capital One 360 or ING DIRECT before or are a Capital One Associate, you won’t be eligible for the bonus.) In order to qualify for the bonus, you must make a deposit from an external account. Transfers between any Capital One accounts will not qualify. This offer cannot be combined with any other Capital One Bank or Capital One 360 new account opening offer, and is strictly non-transferable. Bonus offer is not valid for multiple accounts and is only available one per account.
  • If you qualify for a bonus, Capital One will deposit the bonus money into your account in approximately 6-8 weeks after completing the above conditions. Once it’s deposited, the funds will be available immediately. Account must be in good standing (not in default, closed, or suspended, or otherwise not in good standing).
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

This account has no monthly fees or minimums to worry about.

Our Verdict

They have previously offered this deal, but it has always had targeted language in the fine print. This is no longer the case and it’s available to everybody. The best part of this bonus is that there is no minimum length the $10,000 needs to be deposited for (I don’t know if ACHing in & out smaller amounts will work or not. E.g transfer $5,000 in, transfer $5,000 out and then repeat. Let us know in the comments. Update, ACHing in and out does work).

Bonus usually posts quite quickly after the $10,000 has been deposited. The 1% APY rate is OK, but there are better rates available. We will be adding this to our list of the best savings accounts. Capital One also have a $200 bonus on their checking accounts, but this one still contains the targeted language.

Big thanks to reader, Justincase who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

  1. Fried Chicken says:

Ugh applied for the $100 bonus last December…

  2. Nicky says:

    Great find, thanks!

  3. PJ says:

I have a 360 Savings, the language seems to indicate I am not eligible 🙁

  4. Dan says:

Where do i put in the invitation code?

  5. anthonyjh21 says:

I’m not sure if I’ve ever had an ING account. Has anyone successfully confirmed with Cap1 if you’re eligible before applying? Would be pretty annoying if I went through the hoops only to not qualify.

  6. Nicole says:

I had got Capital One 360 Checking bonus of mere $ 50 and Capital one 360 Savings bonus of $ 75 in 2014. Looks like I am not eligible for any capital one 360 offer. Shucks should have waited till 2017 🙁

  7. Dan says:

Both me and my wife got “data mismatch” – please call us errors…

I bet the address is fucked up somewhere…

    • Daniel says:

Got the same error. Signed in to an old account and I got around it

      • Dan says:

        don’t have old account login…

Anyone tried calling? Have to wait till Monday…

      • EBF says:

The fine print indicates you are not eligible if you’ve had an account before? So, if you have an old login, you must have previously had an account and don’t qualify, right?

        • Daniel says:

          I had a checking account

          • EBF says:

So, you don’t qualify, right? I am a current Cap360 savings customer. Just wondering if you are reading this differently than I am.

“To qualify for the $200 bonus, open your very first 360 Money Market account online … (If you currently have or have had a Savings product with Capital One Bank, Capital One 360 or ING DIRECT before or are a Capital One Associate, you won’t be eligible for the bonus.)”

          • EBF that says if you have or had a SAVINGS product. They had a CHECKING product.

  8. Mahi says:

Able to open account with the code and bonus was confirmed after funding the account while opening…

Got the below msg – “Welcome Aboard. Your 360 Money Market Account is open and you’ll receive your $200 bonus within 6-8 weeks”

  9. Marge says:

    “Generally, you can’t withdraw
a deposit for 5 business days. However, when you first open your account, you won’t be able to
withdraw any money for the first 10 business days.” — From the account disclosures

Also, it’s U.S. citizens and permanent residents only. (also in the disclosures)

  10. Lrdx says:

Does the 1% apply to the whole balance, or just over $10k?

    • Anthony says:

“The 1.00% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) applies to the entire account balance for accounts with balances of $10,000.00 or more”

  11. TD says:

Thanks Doc! opened the account with $100 initial deposit.

  12. JB99 says:

Hey guys. Does the 200STRONG code need to be manually entered at some point within the app? If so, on which page? I see that it’s a 6 page app. I ask since I am curious if you can stack this bonus with a referral link bonus. While hunting around, I have found a few standard referral links for $25, but they take you to an app which looks very different than this one.

On the same note, has anyone ever used a referral link bonus to stack with a sign up bonus?

    Thanks.

  13. Ven says:

Would cap1 allow to open MM account with ITIN?

  14. Nick says:

One of the easier account openings (much quicker and less convoluted than getting the Wells Fargo $250). One cautionary note: I was about to click “submit” and noticed the promotion code 200STRONG was not in the box. Not sure if it was supposed to automatically appear there using the link. Trial deposits should appear in the funding account in a few days,

  15. Laura says:

Definitely one of the easier accounts to open. Same as Nick had to type in the promo code so don’t go too fast! Waiting on trial deposits before funding will complete. Funded with 10,000. Got the your bonus will post in 6-8 weeks notice.
First Capital One account of any sort. Maybe I’ll get a checking account offer in the future now!

    • Nick says:

Laura, I was thinking exactly the same thing! Opening this account with the 10K might set off a few alarms to get us a good checking offer or more. I’m sure the system has it all in place. With no minimum term the last thing they’d want is customers grabbing the bonus and then closing the account. I’m willing to bet we’ll be seeing some offers to make us want to stick around for awhile. And with the 1% rate anyway it’s not much of a sacrifice .

  16. mark says:

WAS SO EASY TO OPEN! thank you so much!

  17. John says:

Great find! Just opened an account and got the bonus language.

  18. John says:

So the 10k doesn’t have to remain in the account until the bonus is paid, correct? Just as long as the account is in good standing, the bonus should pay?

  19. Alexi says:

Man…I went through the application process and couldn’t find out where to enter the code. Now I have an opened account with no bonus. Thanks for updating your instructions, but I guess it’s too late for me.

    • Contact them and ask them to attach it

      • CAP1 says:

I am in the same boat. I will contact them and let you know what they say. If they deny me, I will be pissed. I have NEVER had any acct with them previously. I just hope they don’t make some excuse such as “we can’t manually add it” BS

        • Alexi says:

I tried to get them to attach it, but they indicated this was a targeted offer and they couldn’t. Since the interest rate was lower than my other savings account, it didn’t make sense for me to keep the account. I ended up closing mine.

  20. Tom says:

I applied but didn’t get past the verification and the page asked me to call them for security reasons. Should I call in and try to do the app over the phone or not even bother?

  21. jamie says:

I entered the code 200strong and was told it was not valid. I called and was told that the promotion was targeted and I was not eligible.

  22. Jack says:

Tried applying twice today. Got the same “data mismatch” – please call us error as Dan above. When I called it took 2 transfers and 20 mins for them to tell me it was targeted and I was not eligible….

  23. Laura says:

PP mentioned account disclosures state 10 business days before you can withdraw the deposit. I can confirm that is what my account shows. It shows the initial deposit of 10,000 posting on 3/6 (even though they haven’t withdrawn the money from my other bank yet) and states “This deposit will be fully available by Mar 20, 2017”

  24. Nina says:

Tried applying to the account, and a screen saying “We need more info before you can keep going”, and telling me to call 866-877-2995? Have anyone encountered this before? What will they ask me to provide, and in this case how can I add the promo code? Also, will this result in a hard pull in some way? Thanks.

  25. tinker25 says:

This app is soooo easy – no ID verification questions at all.
Without the ID verify, does it mean no Chex inquiry either?

  26. borntobehermit says:

Everything worked great for me. “Your 360 Money Market is open and you’ll receive your $200 bonus within 6-8 weeks.” I had a few ID verification questions.

    • borntobehermit says:

Actually I got a “We need to speak with you regarding your account. Please call us”. I might have spoken too soon 🙂

      • borntobehermit says:

DP: Phone call went okay. Deposited 10K to my new account on March 9. Now it says “This deposit will be fully available by Mar 23, 2017”. I plan to keep the account open and the money there for now anyway. It is just a bit slower than you expect. I opened other bank accounts recently (Ally), and the money was available in 2-3 business days. Oh well.
Just plan accordingly if you cannot spare the cash for 2 months.

  27. Iz says:

One bonus per person, or per household?

  28. Nicky says:

I’m currently waiting for the $200 bonus to post on the Cap One Checking, shouldn’t be a problem to do this one at the same time while I’m waiting for that right?

  29. Laura says:

10K funding left my Ally account today. (There were no trial deposits despite Capital One saying there would be before funding could complete.)

  30. Sam says:

I just called cap one after applying for the account and depositing 5k and they say its targeted. Has anyone experienced the same.

  31. Laura says:

Another family member applied today and was instantly approved like I was, said it was an easy application, has never had a capital one or ING savings account.

  32. directore says:

This is invitation bonus only, open the account but when inquired later they told me no $200 for me because we did not issue you any invitation. Get lost.

  33. JuicyJosh says:

Cha ching is right! Was targeted by mail and online through Cap1 credit card.

    Mar 08 Cha-Ching! CashPromotion 200.00 10,201.00
Mar 03 Interest Rate Change to 0.995% (1.00% APY)
    Mar 03 Ally Bank Deposit P2P 10,001.00 10,001.00
    Feb 28 Account Open

    • YZ says:

I was not targeted since I dont have any association with C1. But I pulled the trigger because trust DoC

I am in the step 3 right now

      3/5 open account
3/8 deposit p2p 10k, but shows “This deposit will be fully available by Mar 22, 2017” not sure whether this matters
3/9 Interest Rate Change to 0.995% (1.00% APY)

maybe i am just targeted but i have no idea, based the comments, when I opened account, the coupon did linked, and shows “to earn 200 bonus, deposit 10k…..” words

  34. Curmudgeon says:

I have no reason to believe I was targeted for this promo. Used promo code 200strong.

    2/27/17: open account with $10,100
3/07/17: ACH $10k back to my checking account
    3/08/17: Cha-Ching! CashPromotion $200 paid

    Thanks DoC!

    • Sam says:

As per capital one ….person is targeted . Do you have credit wise or any relationship with them . You can check..ask them if you were targeted. They check by zip code and social.

      • Curmudgeon says:

I have business credit cards only. Have never seen anything that directed me to sign up for this offer.

        • Sam says:

          Thank you.

I confirm that I got the bonus. All that frustration and time wasted with phone calls with customer service reps was for nothing.

This just proves that bonus is not targeted.

Also few answers to questions asked by people

They will hold the deposit I. E. Funds for about 15 days. It does not matter for the bonus. My funds still on hold and still got the bonus. On the top of that bonus can be immidiately withdrawn. What I mean is though funds on hold the bonus is available to spend or withdraw.

  35. Laura says:

To anyone who gets told how this is “targeted” by Capital One: I googled “Capital One Money Market” and an to “Open with 10K or more with capital one and earn both 1.00% APR Plus $200 Bonus” is literally the first ad that I see on my screen, heck it’s even the bottom ad on the search page. Take a screen shot for your records. I did because you never know but I fully expect to get the bonus. It looks like Capital One very specifically changed the language in this bonus to get the new clients but Capital One just doesn’t do that so maybe the reps are just confused? (I have not called the bank and have no intention of contacting them unless the 8 weeks passes and my bonus doesn’t post. And now I have a peace of mind screen shot.)

  36. Suzie says:

I got $200 bonus for my checking account this January (not targeted). Am I qualified for $200 bonus of money market account? I’m not targeted for this offer, but I did see the promo ad on my computer screen.

  37. Justin says:

I just called and the CSR had no problem adding the code to my account. I forgot to add it during the setup process.

    • Richard says:

Did you have to call right away? I signed up two days ago and just realized now that I forgot to add it.

  38. Chris says:

I’ve read this post and the comments and am still not 100% clear on the deposit requirements: does this require (1) an initial funding/deposit (not necessarily Direct Deposit) of $10,000, or (2) There is no initial funding requirement but you do need one Direct Deposit of more than $10,000 to trigger the bonus? I’m thinking it’s option #2…

    Thanks in advance!

    • rick says:

From what I understand, terms are that there is no initial funding requirement, just make deposit(s) (not necessarily even a “true” direct one like employer DD) totaling at least $10k before 3/31. You don’t even have to keep the $10k in there while waiting for bonus to post.

Personally, I opened with a $1 initial deposit and then deposited $10k (pushed from Ally) about a week later. No bonus yet (only been a few days since my $10k push) so I can’t be sure, but this should meet their terms as I read them.

    • No direct deposit or initial deposit is required, you just have to transfer in at least $10,000 (different to a direct deposit). Hope that make sense.

  39. goldendeal says:

I had an ING account over 10 yeas ago so because of that they said I do not qualify for the bonus…oh what games they play.

  40. goldendeal says:

I had an ing direct account over 10 yeas ago so because of that they said I do not qualify for the bonus

  41. Matt says:

I had an ING account over 10 yeas ago so because of that they said I do not qualify for the bonus…oh what games they play.

  42. 007 says:

Is there still a ChexSystems inquiry if I am an existing CO360 Checking customer?

    Thanks so much!

  43. Harry says:

To anyone who have got this bonus…does pulling money in work or did you have to push money into the account from external account? Thanks in advance.

    • YZ says:

I don’t think it matter, since in the term it is “deposit”, based on what i understand, as long as this is “new” money to C1..

But I still haven’t seen the bonus on my account yet.

      2/27/17: open account with $10,100
3/07/17: ACH $10k back to my checking account
      3/08/17: Cha-Ching! CashPromotion $200 paid

      Mar 08 Cha-Ching! CashPromotion 200.00 10,201.00
Mar 03 Interest Rate Change to 0.995% (1.00% APY)
      Mar 03 Ally Bank Deposit P2P 10,001.00 10,001.00
      Feb 28 Account Open

      3/5 open account
3/8 deposit p2p 10k, but shows “This deposit will be fully available by Mar 22, 2017” not sure whether this matters
3/9 Interest Rate Change to 0.995% (1.00% APY)maybe i just need to wait a few more days

      • Harry says:

Thanks YZ, the DPs you posted I saw, but was not very clear. The 1st one is a pull it appears but was done at the time of opening. The other 2 are push from external which I don’t like so much to do since it takes longer to see the funds and some external banks charge fees for transfer-outs that need to complete quickly. I would prefer to do a pull since most time CapitalOne posts it within 2 business days.
I agree the terms are not saying you have to do one way or other, but given that this is a one time, I want to be absolutely certain.

        • YZ says:

The 1st and 2nd DP are comments above

The last one is my own, I did a Pull initiated from C1, I can see the balance now is 10k, but it shows “This deposit will be fully available by Mar 22, 2017”

          • Harry says:

Interesting then; please do post if/when you get the bonus.
I know from checking experience with C1 that the date of funds availability could vary and sometimes even +1 week depending on size of deposit and if a new bank account as well as the number of deposits (1st one is quick, 2nd and 3rd one usually longer) though the interest accrues right from the day you see the funds pending and not on the actual availability date. However as in your case, the bonus may be delayed and depend on the date of availability.

        • YZ says:

I got the bonus on 3/15
          so proved C1 pull works

    • Curmudgeon says:

When I opened my money market account, I just put in the ACH info for my funding bank and pulled the entire $10k. The funds were on hold for a week, then I pushed it back to my checking and the bonus posted a couple days after, so I don’t think you need to do anything special, just get the money into the account.

  44. rab says:

is this only for us citizens?

    • Harry says:

      Answered above:
Also, it’s U.S. citizens and permanent residents only. (also in the disclosures)

    • Mahi says:

I am not a citizen or permanent resident.. without realizing/reading the disclosure, i had opened it and got 200$ deposited…

  45. borntobehermit says:

    DP:
[03/07] Opened a new Capital One 360 Money Market account online. Used promo code 200STRONG
    [03/09] Deposited $10,000
[03/15] Received $200 bonus (much faster than the expected 6-8 weeks)

  46. Heisenberg says:

    DP:
[03/05] Opened a new account online and made an initial deposit of $20. Used promo code 200STRONG
    [03/08] Deposited another $10,000
    [03/15] Received $200 bonus

  47. Iz says:

Any DPs re bonus posting after 10k deposit, but before funds availability? Also, what if the funds are not available until after March 31? (Today’s deposit is available March 29, so we’re getting close…)
    Thanks.

    • borntobehermit says:

Yes, beside what I posted above, my funds were deposited on March 8, received bonus on March 15, but the deposit is still on hold until Mar 23. They keep it on hold for a long time, but they adjusted the interest rate to 1% on March 10, so it is not a waste 🙂

  48. MontyFC says:

DP: Wasn’t targeted but never had any relationship with CapOne, ING Direct or Orange.

    3/4: Account opened
3/6: Funds Submitted from Chase ACH
    3/7: Bonus deposited

Funds will be available after 3/20.

  49. 10g says:

When I call in regarding my checking bonus promo not being apply. The supervisor saw I also open the money market and told me I wasn’t targeted for this bonus. Still got the 200 bonus in 9 days from opening account to when bonus post.

  50. Laura says:

Account opened 3/6. Bonus posted 3/15. Cha-Ching indeed!

  51. Jake says:

Has anyone who is a previous customer tried to get this bonus?

How do they track the bonus history? SSN?

    • Erik says:

Wondering the same thing. Think I received this bonus a few years ago but not 100% positive. Wondering if it is worth trying anyways

  52. James says:

Is it confirmed if you could use smaller amounts? Like can I just ach push/pull 3-4k a few times?

  53. Nick says:

Received the “Cha-Ching” $200 bonus (as it is shown in account activity) in less than two weeks. Really appreciate this and the Wells Fargo promo posting the bonus so quickly. Eliminates any nervousness that it won’t be received, which is certainly the case with other banks that can make you wait several weeks. Thanks again.

  54. MG says:

Having a capital one credit card shouldn’t disqualify someone from the promo right? It prompted me during the last step saying you already have a capital one account. I just have a cap one credit card, never had their/ING deposit products. I should get the bonus right?

    • Curmudgeon says:

Shouldn’t disqualify you, but it may let you access both your credit card and checking accounts on the same login.

  55. TJ says:

I had an ING Direct Orange Savings Account 10-15 years ago. Bummer that they DQ us from the bonus….

    • anthonyjh21 says:

I’m 90% sure I had one as well, similarly 10-15 years ago. I opted to call in and they confirmed that I was in fact eligible for this bonus. Maybe it’s because this is a money market and not a savings? Worth calling in my opinion.

  56. chiaochiao16 says:

There is a 400 bonus for opening 360 checking. Anyone seen this?
    https://www.capitalone.com/bonus400/

It has a targeted term though
IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE AN EMAIL OR MAIL PIECE DIRECTLY FROM CAPITAL ONE 360 WITH THE ABOVE CODE, YOU ARE INELIGIBLE FOR THIS BONUS OFFER

    • anthonyjh21 says:

One of the reasons I jumped into this money market offer is because I’m hopeful that I’ll now receive targeted checking account offers (never had a Cap1 checking).

  57. Caleb says:

Forgot to enter the invite code at account setup because I was going to wait on the money transfer. Will I miss the bonus now?

  58. NC says:

DP: Got the message to call in for security reasons. Called and apparently had an ING savings back in 2011 which still has a profile and is blocking me, so not eligible! 🙁

  59. Mike says:

I SM’d Capital One to confirm I had met the bonus requirements since the bonus hadn’t been posting quickly and had this conversation:

Them: “So for the bonus offer for 200 dollars; had you received a direct offer to setup the account for the bonus?”

Me: “I had used an invitation code 200STRONG from a link I had found online”

Them: “Awesome! So for the bonus, typically the bonus code will be stamped into your profile if you open the account using the 200strong web address provided. At this time, I do see that you have completed the requirements for the bonus offer, but the code had not been stamped into the profile.”

Them: “I will make sure to notate on your profile that you had met the eligibility requirements to receive the bonus. The only thing you will need to do moving forward to receive the 200 dollars, would be to call into capital one in about 6-8 weeks and we can manually post the bonus for you. Typically the bonus would automatically post, but in this case we will go ahead and manually post that for you.”

So I apparently forgot to actually enter the code, but I took a screen shot of the chat and will be calling them 6 weeks after I met the requirement.

I did not plan on leaving the money in the account longer than I had to, so I am a little worried about practically emptying the account before talking to them again. I know the bonus doesn’t have a timeline, but any advice?

    • Justin Pan says:

I wouldn’t withdraw until you get the bonus. Where do you go to send a message? I don’t see the option in the message center.

      • Mike says:

There was a chat now button on the right of the account screen with a chat bubble icon. It wasn’t actually an SM.

And I’ll try to keep the money in there, but between this and the Citi bonus, I don’t know how long I can keep all my money tied up =/

      • Dan says:

If you go to ‘Alerts & Messages’ tab in your account summary there is an option to chat in the top right

  60. JON says:

Thanks Doctor of credit. Direct deposit in one lump sum of $10,101.68 to Capital one 360 saving, initiated from an external bank. That amount was officially posted in Capital One account on Thursday 03/16/17 as available balance. $200 Cash bonus posted in to my account on Tuesday 03/21/17.
I was not targeted by Capital One. I have no credit card, saving, or checking account history with Capital One. My family also has no account history with Capital One ever. I applied via Doctor of Credit direct link.

    Jon from Los Angeles

  61. Pablo says:

Just received my $200 bonus just 1 week after meeting the $10,000 necessary deposit requirement (transferred from my TIAA high yield savings account). I was not targeted. Thanks DoC!

Will probably keep the account open since no fees and can’t go wrong with a 1% interest rate for emergency funds (as well as not being able to get any more signup bonuses from Capital One anymore or at least that’s what I heard)

  62. anthonyjh21 says:

    Opened: 3/16
    Funds posted: 3/20
    Bonus posted: 3/21

Fastest I’ve ever received a bonus. Worth noting I had an ING account years ago but after calling in and giving my SSN they were able to confirm I was not in their system and was eligible for the bonus.

Looks like I’ll wait 10 business days and then w/d the money and leave it open in hopes of fishing for an increased checking account bonus.

Does anyone know how to find the exact date which you can make the withdraw? I’ve seen it mentioned 10 business days so I’ll just go off that but would be nice to see the exact date so that I can schedule the w/d without any issues.

  63. Yeshu says:

I used the money to pay some bills (didn’t leave the money in there). Has been close to a week since I did the transfer, losing hopes that I’ll get the bonus 🙁

Probably shouldn’t have used the money to pay bills (i.e ACH pulls).

  64. Lisa says:

Is it too late for this bonus? If I open the account today and how to quickly deposit $10k to this money market account?

  65. Matt says:

    Data point:

$10,000 does not have to be posted all at once or remain in account for bonus to work.
    I did:
    $2000 PNC (account #1) -> CapitalOne -> PNC (account #2)
    $2000 PNC (account #1) -> CapitalOne -> PNC (account #2)
    $6001 PNC (account #1) -> CapitalOne

At any given time I never had more than $6001 in the account. Bonus posted 2 days after I reached $10,000 of aggregate deposits.

  66. Harry says:

    Datapoint:
Part of 10K was pulled into C1 from external account in two chunks and another part of it was through checks deposited directly into the C1 MM account.
Deposits completed 3/21. Got bonus today though date of posting shows yesterday…maybe late night I did not check. So appears it can post anytime Tuesday/Wednesday after the completion of deposits.
This family member had checking accounts as well as CDs but no savings or money market account with C1 prior to this.

Another family member did have C1 checking and savings and opened the MM account anyway with some hope, but no bonus posted (as expected) even 2 weeks after 10K deposit (as expected).

  67. Riley says:

Would it be too late to get the bonus if I signed up today and made the 10K deposit? I’m making the deposit before the deadline, it just won’t post before it though.

  68. NN says:

if you click on the offer link, the deadline is actually extended to June 30, 2017

  69. Danielle says:

I’m getting ‘Invalid Code’ error message

  70. Pam says:

FWIW – I just tried to open the 200GROW promotion and got “the promo code you entered is not valid”. Talked to customer service and they said the 200GROW is targeted only and that they had had a public bonus just end yesterday. Said I was not on the targeted listed but that they run public offers frequently and to wait for the next one.

  71. Joe says:

Complain to the CFPB about this scam bank

  72. pc says:

can someone confirm the old promotion is extended to 4/10?

  73. Ed says:

Agree with all data points that the bonus posts quickly. I’m in no rush to close this account. I’ll wait awhile to see if any targeted Cap One offers for other products roll in. Have never had their checking, and I’m definitely ready, willing and able for a good signup bonus!

  74. john mccann says:

I got the same response. Promo 200GROW not available.

  75. Victoria says:

I tried to open an account and 200GROW was not accepted. When I called a CSR told me that the new promotion will run from April 10th through June 30th. This different from what others were told and I suspect that people in CapOne don’t know the new conditions.

  76. Jerry says:

I just tried and got this error: The promo code you have entered is not valid.

  77. ming says:

The promo code you have entered is not valid.
    hoho

  78. Tammie says:

I had an Ing account in 2002 and closed it in 2003

Will this wretched bank still consider me ineligible?

    Any thoughts?

  79. Alex says:

The promo code you have entered is not valid.

  80. Updated post to say that 200GROW isn’t working, if anybody gets it to work please let me know.

  81. 3/19 Clicked through Banner Ad. Opened with $10K deposit.
(Status online shows deposit will not be processed until external account confirmed)
    3/22 Confirmed Micro-deposits
3/22 Deposit posted immediately, but marked as not available until 3/28
    3/28 $200 bonus posted.

I have had a Capital One Credit Card for a number of years.
    I was not targeted
Spouse was targeted and received 2-3 mailers. Spouse had already signed up and received bonus previously.

  82. Suzy says:

Applied for an acct 12/20/16 and just saw the bonus offer. Called Capital One and they said they would make an exception and add the $200 which they did while I was on hold and see it in my account. Side note: the account was opened with much more than $10K

  83. NN says:

the promo code is working again,
just confirmed with a rep via chat and signed up

  84. James says:

How long do funds get held in the account after depositing?

  85. Tomtoo says:

Just a reminder to everyone, many times the funds they put on hold are available a couple of days before the hold ending date stated.

  86. rhinobill says:

when I opened the account I typed 200GROW in in the promo box it had a green check mark in that box indicating that it was good but there wasn’t a message indicating the code was accepted.

    • Don’t think a message is required

    • SM says:

The same just happened to me. It said “Welcome aboard.” after account was created, but it did not say ” “Welcome Aboard. Your 360 Money Market Account is open and you’ll receive your $200 bonus within 6-8 weeks.”

Do you have any updates to share?

I opened with $1. I am going to have to cycle $2500 four times to trigger bonus.

      • rhinobill says:

i opened with a small amount.
        2 weeks later i deposited $10,000.00
        within a week later i received $200.00

  87. JC says:

Do I need to unlock my credit history with all 3 (experian, transunion, and equifax) before I apply?

  88. Devin says:

I just called Capital One and they would not match the $200 bonus. I originally opened a 360 Money Market account on 12/16/16 and received a $100 bonus on 1/20/17. The rep said they couldn’t give me another $100 to match the $200 offer because once an account has been coded as receiving a bonus, more money cannot be added to it from their end (so they say). Who knows, YMMV

  89. Ven says:

Would Cap1 allow to open Money Market account using ITIN?

    • Ven says:

When I called the CSR said, This bonus is not applicable to who have/had Cap1 Checking/Savings accounts even in closed status. FYI…they won’t accept ITIN for any 360 account.

In my case, I closed my account in 2013, they still had my profile. So I am not eligible for any bonus offers. bye bye cap1 🙂

      • Master Allan says:

I had an ING account years ago and like many cancelled it prior to the assimilation process by Capital One. After all these years I would have expected CapOne would try to motivate some new savers with a bonus. Barclay’s still has the majority of my liquid cash.

  90. AJ says:

I opened my account on 3/27 and put in 10k as my initial deposit. The 10k was available on my account on 3/29. I received ~$1 on 3/31 from monthly interest. This afternoon (4/6), I got the $200 bonus. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t targeted since I have never used any cap1 products.

    Thanks for the post!

  91. Davezilla says:

Dropped in 10k 04Apr2017. $200 bonus posted 06Apr2017…. wow that was fast. Thanks!

  92. Sud4u says:

Account opened and 10K deposited on 03/20, still no $200. Is it early to call Cap1?

  93. Jake says:

Guess I should fund $.01 as my initial deposit (10 day hold) and $10,000 another day?

  94. El Guapo says:

Applied online at end of March, pushed 10k ACH transfer from my Ally account, bonus posted 9 days later. Easy breezy. Easiest bonus since that Wells Fargo checking for 250 that posted within a few days.

  95. NBG says:

Applied online and opened 4/4 with $10K funding and posted 4/11. 4/11 $200 bonus posted.
    Easy!.

  96. Theory says:

After getting this bonus a few weeks ago, I did a transfer to an external bank, choosing the entire amount. This showed an additional option aside from confirm/cancel for “close account”. The page reads that if you choose this option, you’ll get a check in 7-10 business days, rather than the transfer actually happening.

Since the transfer will only take a couple days, I instead transferred *most* of the money to my external bank first today, and will try this closing option with the remaining few dollars next week. My expectation is that it will close the account, add any interest that has compounded since the last statement, and send me a check for that new amount. If so, even closing this account doesn’t require talking to anyone \o/

I’ll update once I try out this option next week.

  97. Ferris says:

Can you remote deposit or send in checks? I can only ACH $1k per day and $5k per month with CCU.

    • Superchurn says:

Are you sure? I also have CCU and used it to send 2 $5k ACH’s on 2 separate days…worked fine for me

      • Tomtoo says:

I have had the same limits as Ferris, I wonder how yours are so much higher with CCU? Would sure be nice to have that ability. Are you sure those were pushes that originated at CCU?

        • Superchurn says:

Yep, definitely pushed from CCU to CapOne

to be clear, i’m referrting to myconsumers.org, (since there are multiple CCU’s)

          • Ferris says:

I’ve always had this issue in the 2+ years I’ve been with CCU:

We are unable to schedule this transfer for the following reason(s):
On 04/19/2017 the 1-day total amount transferred would be $5,000.00, exceeding the limit of $1,000.00. On 04/19/2017 the 30-day total amount transferred would be $5,001.00, exceeding the limit of $5,000.00.

          • Tomtoo says:

Same with me. If we want to continue this discussion, it should probably be on this page:

            http://www.doctorofcredit.com/consumers-credit-union-5-07-apy-on-up-to-20000-rewards-checking/

Maybe I will start a new discussion about it over there if nobody else does as I am curious if anybody else can transfer more than $1000D/$5000M.

  98. Devon says:

Wife and I both have no relationships with them except credit cards in the past, no banking. Both got these messages after the page where you enter your info. Bummer as I might call but I know my wife won’t call. She hates doing that.

“********, it looks like there is an issue with the data you provided.

We take your security very seriously and need to make sure your information is accurate in our system.

    Give us a call.
    1-866-877-2995”

    • CharlieAlpha says:

I got the very same message. Does anyone know what this is about?

    • dan says:

if the provided info didn’t match that to the chex report or personal security data, the folks in verification dept. want to verify some security questions; in my case, address didn’t match as recently moved

  99. Frito Pendejo says:

Bonus posted for me a few days after meeting reqs. Thanks DoC.

  100. Andrew says:

I just tried this and the 200GROW is saying not valid.

  101. Andrew says:

This was extremely easy to setup. I already had a checking account with them, so adding the money market took about 30 seconds (literally). Setup the $10k transfer from to ACH pull from my primary account (with another bank) at the same time. Just gotta wait for the bonus to post over the next few weeks. Easiest bank account offer I’ve done so far.

  102. Wong says:

I got my bonus in 5 business days

  103. Loren says:

Is there a minimum amount of time the account must stay open for this one?

    • Loren says:

Opened the account on 5/4/17 did 3 transfers from TD for 1500, 3500, and 5000, transferring each back once it posted. The $5000 is still holding, but posted the bonus this morning 5/17/17.

Once the 5000 posts, I will transfer back to TD.

Only concern is if this account can now be closed once there a zero balance?

Planning on opening my husband one today! Quick and easy bonus only downside is that the transfers take a while to come off of holding.

  104. zalmy says:

    Until your bonus posts?

  105. Petrie says:

Will cash deposit(s) qualify for the $10 min?

I opened the account and am trying to do the transfers, but my account only lets me move $5k per day $6k per month. So, if a cash deposit won’t work, then I’m going to have to verify multiple banks with C1, and then spend days moving it all around.

  106. ian says:

anyone here get the bonus after previously having a cap one savings account?

    • Gadget says:

nope…. I was hoping they “forgot” I had an ING savings account at some point. I heard others say their 10K was held for 10 days, to qualify for the bonus… mine was only held for 5, which I believe is their standard hold policy. That was my first clue my plan didn’t work. I am still going to call and ask, but pretty sure I am screwed. I figured it was worth a try, esp since I was rounding up funds for another round at Citi 15K.

  107. Mr. J says:

I wonder if having capital one’s credit card is considered not qualified. Thanks!

    • Raj says:

No. I had Capital One Credit Card and still applied for the Money Market account and already got the $200 bonus

  108. Robby says:

We’ve never had any Capital One accounts. Never was targeted in any way, I’m sure of it. My wife and I both did the below with the same dollar amounts and exact same timeline, so it was effectively a $400 bonus. Note that the fine print says that the qualifying 10,000 deposit must come from a checking and not a savings account, but Savings worked just fine for us.

5/1: Account opened with 10,005 ACH from Ally Savings. Code 200GROW
5/5: Funds available in CapOne 360 money market account
    5/9: Cha-Ching! CashPromotion 200.00

Actually still have to wait a day to withdraw my initial deposit! What a fast promotion.

  109. Andrew says:

Applied 5/2/17 with 200GROW. Funded initial $10k by ACH from local hub account. $200 bonus posted on 5/9/17. When I signed up for the MM account, I already had a 360 Checking account and a business credit card with Cap One. Got the bonus anyway.

  110. mark says:

    Initial funding with 10k.

    waited 2 months+ no bonus.

I HAVE HAD a savings that i closed 2 years ago with C360.

I called, and they gave me the $200 bonus. Not sure if they knew about the savings but it could be i got lucky. YMMV.

  111. Phil says:

    DP: applied 5/4 w/ 200GROW

5/9: $5000 transfer posted from Ally
    5/10: withdrew back to Ally
5/15: $5000 transfer posted from Ally
    5/16: $200 bonus posted

  112. Avi says:

    DP:

05/05: Preauthorized Synchrony bank $10K deposit to Capital One 360

    • Preserve says:

It says targeted – anyone have success getting bonus who wasn’t targeted?

    • Alan says:

      It is targeted.

    • Preserve says:

Has anyone who wasn’t targeted had success getting the bonus through that link? I called Capital One and they said this promo doesn’t use a promo code but rather you need to open the accounts through the link: https://www.capitalone.com/together360/ . It does say targeted so I’m wondering if anyone has had success getting the bonuses who wasn’t specifically targeted?

      • Pretty sure that one has targeted language as well: These cash bonuses are only available to you if you received our related package offer in the mail and if you do not have an existing 360 Money Market, 360 Checking or 360 Savings account

  115. Baha says:

I had opened before with BB&T (another bank), no bonus paid it says targeted. So trying may be waste if says targeted.

  116. Johnny says:

1% is good but gonna transfer all the money back to Santander where they’re giving 1.2%!
