Just an FYI, they’re working on apps from 11/11. I applied last wk and they told me that they won’t get to it til Sat or next wk.

P2’s account was instantly opened OOS with membership confirmation. My application is still pending after two weeks.

I’m already a member and simply applied for a 2nd acct. Not only did they ask for a copy of my ID, a rep said that it could take 7-10 days. WTF?

vc A CSR told me they were overwhelmed by a surge of recent applicants. My account was finally opened this weekend.

I just realized it’s not just 5 debit card purchases but POS, “In order to receive the bonus, the participating member must make at least five point of sale (POS) purchases with the debit card…”
TBH – I didn’t know what that meant and Google says it means using your debit AND PIN… So my Amazon loads probably don’t count and I need to go to the grocery store or something? Please advise.

Dave M That’s my thinking also. Walmart self checkout has always worked for me.

ShawntheShawn

Online purchases, including Amazon reloads, are POS purchases. Give it a try, and you will know. Dave M Wayne

Ah nice! The amazon reload purchases say “POS Withdrawal” on my RFCU account. So I think that counts then eh?

ShawntheShawn Thank you.

Heads up: The “average daily balance of $100+” fee avoidance criteria is no longer valid. I spoke with cs and apparently it was done away with some time ago. The direct deposit requirement has no minimum though and the debit card transaction minimum is $1.

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek

Debit card minimum is not $1. Four 50 cent Amazon reloads work to avoid the monthly fee. Pretty sure if you ask enough people, you would find one that set up PayPal 1 cent transactions.

Customer service warned me that the account is a hard pull on Experian after I submitted all documentation, YMMV. Personally not too interested in taking that risk.

G I have a copy of a chat with the Redstone rep assuring me it’s a soft pull. I’ve never had it happen before, but I wonder if it turns out to be a hard pull if I can fight it? Any idea Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek

Sure… You could try to fight it if it happened. But generally speaking an application says they can request consumer reports, which you agreed to prior to application submission.

But it’s not a hard pull for the account so it’s not really an issue. They only ‘hard pull’ Chex…

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek Great, thank you.

How do you know it’s not a hard pull for the checking account? They just emailed me to unfreeze Experian.

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek

Because I opened an account there, as did hundreds of DoC followers in the last year.

They use Experian for ID verification, and to screen you for additional products. They can’t access a frozen credit report.

Interesting, thanks. I see there’s a report of a HP on the DoC reference page; maybe they’re a one-off.

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek

Yeah, a guy from 2018, and one down below in the comments that were a year or two ago. Feel free to find more.

There have been two very popular Redstone promos in the last year – nobody reported a hard pull on those, and pretty sure they would have spoken up.

Thank you so much!

OOS. I had tried before with a referral but my funding never went through. This time no problem to join via FFA, went through immediately.

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek

IIRC, using a referral doesn’t bypass the residency restriction/FFA requirement, unless you claimed the referral was an immediate family member or HH member.

I had also said I was a member of FFA fwiw. Nothing happened, the app just never went through. I did not hear from them and when I contacted them it said the app expired and I had to app again. Anyway! np this time

For those of you who live in the geographic area, how are you getting past the first eligibility screen? It only offers eligibility via employment, membership, student enrollment at local school, or family member already a member. Did you just call in?

I live in the area and I just selected financial fitness association. It’s only $8 to join and i was approved by redstone.

I live outside the geographic area but realized I was already a member of the FFA, so was able to apply through that. We shall see…

Wayne

AD Same for me. I won’t hesitate to file a complaint if my account isn’t opened. Their criteria says a membership partner or approved geographic location.

Has anyone successfully opened this account? Mine is still pending from OOS.

I live in TN, but my employer is not part of the credit union. How can I find my geographical location is eligible for bonus?

Fox

I chatted at their website and asked them. My chat rep said, just try it and if they decided I’m not qualified then they will deny me. I live and work at TN but my employer was not listed. I have not applied yet but I will try and find out.
