Best Posts Last Week: Citi Shutdowns, New Chase Rules, Good AmEx Bonuses & Much More

Last week was spoiled by three pieces of really negative news. Citi shut down a lot of credit card accounts, we’re still not sure what caused these shut downs. They also removed credit card funding on their deposit accounts. Chuck also got word from his contact in the industry that the 5/24 rule would soon be applied to co-branded cards as well.

It wasn’t all bad news though, there is a slew of very good targeted bonuses from American Express and Chase increased the sign up bonus to 80,000 points on their Marriott card. We also completed our series of things you should know about different credit card issuers, adding Wells Fargo, Capital One, Discover & Barclaycard.

We also looked at the best high interest savings accounts and published our beginners guide to checking account bonuses. If you find any bank account bonuses, then please let us know so we can make this site even better.

There were also a lot of good deals last week, make sure you follow us on Twitter so you don’t miss any that quickly expire. AmEx is offering a 50% transfer bonus to Virgin America and a 30-50% bonus when you use pay with points (this one is targeted). Sprint is also offering American Airlines miles for new & existing users.
