Best Posts Last Week: Barclaycard Bonanza, Redbird Options, Citi Checking Bonuses + Much More

The biggest news of the week was undoubtedly the fact that Target’s Redbird will no longer accept credit card loads. We had a look at what options you had left now that this is no longer possible. If you’re not already part of the newsletter, join now. We’ll be talking about other options outside of Redbird there as well.

This week it was Barclaycard’s turn to have increased sign up bonuses on their credit cards. Let’s start from least important to most important. Early in the week they increased the sign up bonus on the Upromise card to $100 and added some additional 5% categories as well. Then they increased the Lufthansa card to 50,000 miles. Finally they released the increased the sign up bonus on the Wyndham cards to 45,000 points (with 15,000 point anniversary bonus) and 30,000 points for the no annual fee card.

American Express finally launched their Plenti coallition rewards program, to say it’s underwhelming is a massive understatement. What’s actually worse is the co-branded credit card they released at the same time, it’s borderline useless. Fingers crossed it improves, but I’m not holding my breathe. One interesting change with American Express is that there is a new way to find targeted offers and they might be churnable. They had one other small change, Platinum cardholders will no longer pay booking fees on Amextravel.com.

We talked about two massive bank bonuses this week as well, both from Citi. You can currently either get 30,000 American Airline miles or 40,000 Citi ThankYou points for opening a Citi Gold account and completing some other small requirements. If you have a Citi Prestige card, this means you can also get the annual fee reduced by $100. There was also a $250 bonus for those in WI & MN and a $150 bonus from Citizen’s bank for those in MI & OH, CT, DE, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, and VT].

Chuck gave you all the information you could possibly need on the Sam’s Club American Express offer, which is a cracking deal if you haven’t already done it. He also showed how it’s possible to see and add AmEx offers in your Bluebird/Serve accounts online.
