Best Posts Last Week: An Extra 5k Hyatt Points, $300 Bank Bonus, Lower Minimum Spend Requirements & Five Great Deals

Two credit cards had their sign up bonuses increased last week, the Chase Hyatt now comes with an additional 5,000 points. This means you now get two free nights anywhere, $50 and 5,000 points – pretty great bonus. Fortunately the new rules for Chase credit card applications don’t seem to matter for co-branded cards like this, but if it’s successful on Chase branded cards we might see change in this as well. Citi also increased the sign up bonus on their no annual fee hilton card to 50,000 points + $50 statement credit, useful if you value Hilton points.

If you were hoping for smooth sailing for the first 5x promo period on the NBA card, then you probably received a rude shock with your account being locked. Here is what you need to know. There were two positive pieces of news for this card though, so find out what they are if you haven’t already.

American Express had a mixed week, first they told us that you’d only receive 800 Avios when you transferred 1,000 Membership Rewards points. They then followed it up with three great AmEx sync offers, the best was that if you spend $100+ at Target or Walmart you’ll receive a $30 statement credit and it can be repeated up to five times. Unfortunately there is no Twitter hashtag available for that offer. There was also a $5 statement credit for spending $5+ at google play and lastly $50 statement credit when you spend $200+ at Brooks Brothers which is a very profitable deal when you factor in portal cashback.  American Express also lowered the minimum spend requirement to $3,000 on the SPG card.

There were a lot of good deals last week, I’d recommend reading them all below but there are two that are worth a specific mention. eBay is selling $100 BP cards for $90, even if you don’t purchase gas there this is a profitable deal. It might also be possible for some to get $10 off at Amazon for just using one Chase UR point.

Sun East Federal is offering a checking bonus of up to $300 for those living in NJ, DE or PA. The Regions Bank $350 promo is also back for those in Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Austin, and Dallas only] and Bank of America is offering a checking bonus of 25,000 Virgin Atlantic miles.
