Best Posts Last Week: New Hyatt Credit Card, Marriott News & More

As always let’s start with last weeks credit card news, Chase & Hyatt teamed up to launch a new co-branded credit card with a 60,000 point bonus. We compared this to the old card to help you see the differences. Cardholders with the old card can upgrade to the new card, everything about that you need to know can be found here. When it was first launched there was some confusion if 5/24 applied or not and at this stage it doesn’t but it looks like Chase plans to introduce this rule on all card in the future. I’m not terribly worried about it at this stage, Chase was always going to do this eventually and it doesn’t seem like they have any real time currently anyway. That wasn’t the only bad news though as it looks like American Express plans to see if you’ve recently received a bonus on Chase Marriott cards when they launch the new SPG luxury card.

The other big news last week was that Marriott/SPG have finally provided us with a full list of what properties award categories will be starting from August 1st. It isn’t as bad as I feared it would be with most properties remaining the same price, I’m more worried long term when off peak and peak season pricing goes into effect. Some people are gushing over the possible luxury redemption that will be possible, but I’m urging caution. They also announced the new travel packages and these are a massively devaluation.

It was another relatively slow week for bank account bonuses. That will change soon as July is national bank account bonus month. There is a very nice $500 checking/savings bonus from Woori America Bank for those in NY, NJ, PA, MD, VA, CA. KeyBank is also offering $300/$200/$100 for those in select areas of ID, IN, ME, MI, VT, OR, WA, OH, PA, NY, CT, CO. If you got in on the previous incredible bank promotion, you can also get $5 Starbucks gift card for using the app.

Dunkin Donuts has released a very nice Masterpass deal where you get a free $5 for every $10 you load, the best thing is that you can do it once per day until 8/31. Swagbucks is offering $40 when you make your for your first Gillette-on-demand purchase. Chase is offering 1,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you add your Chase card to Google Pay. Kmart is offering an easy $10 in points and finally if you don’t already have the deal calendar bookmarked, I’d recommend doing so.

As always a lot of the good deals have already expired, make sure to either follow us on Twitter, get instant notifications or get daily e-mail updates so you don’t miss any deals. If we missed any deals or you have an idea for a post, please let us know ([email protected] or [email protected]).
