Best Posts Last Week: New Chase Freedom Flex Card, New 1% Debit Card & More

Last week Chase announced that a new Chase Freedom Flex card would be launching and both the new Freedom Flex & Freedom Unlimited would earn 3% on dining & drugstores. We got your questions about this card answered and also suggested that people product change to the Freedom Card now.

Bank of America closed some accounts due to excessive card openings and closing. Citi finally cancel the cards of some cardholders who had their American Airlines accounts terminated. Chase has also started to do more income verification checks. Bank of America has also increased the sign up bonus on the personal Alaska card to 65,000 miles and on the business card to 40,000 miles + $200.

It was a slower week for bank account bonuses but Bank of the West has a $600 checking & savings bonus for those in AZ, CA, CO, ID, IA, KS, MN, MO, NE, NV, NM, ND, OK, OR, SD, UT, WA, WI, WY although the terms make it YMMV. First Horizon Bank has a $400 bonus for those in TN, AR, MS, AL, GA, KY, FL, NC & VA. TAB Bank also launched a 1% cash back debit card account with no cap.

Swagbucks is offering $100 back when you spend $25+ on Vuse. Amazon is offering a $5 prime video credit and $5 cheezit’s credit when you watch 8 hours of prime video (only selected titles, but the cheezit’s credits stack month to month). Food delivery service Chowbus is offering DoC readers $5 off their first three orders. GrubHub/Seamless is offering $5 off your next pick up order. eBay has 25% off select merchants and also $25 off $25.01+ on select accounts.

United announced the permanent elimination of domestic change fees, this caused American, Delta, Alaska & Hawaiian airlines to all follow United’s lead. Walmart Plus will finally launch on September 15, costing $98 per year. Safeway is offering up to $25 off Mastercard gift cards.
