  • Receive at least $500 in electronic deposits

Field of membership is here: https://www.educationcu.com/how-to-become-an-ecu-member/, mainly for people in the Texas Panhandle.

NASB changed to 5% APY, 4.89% interest through September from latest emails sent out. After that who knows.

Not much of a change, but at least slight change updwards.

It probably makes more sense to just apply for MBD since it’s the same rate and same bank but with no $25K requirement. Do you disagree?

The difference is Flagstar is guaranteeing that rate for 5 months. No guarantee with MyBankingDirect

I say use Flagstar, take their money, then jump ship immediately when the rates get uncompetitive. I want them to suffer!!!!!

They just took my Elan Max Cash Preferred and turned it into a generic Visa. Sneaky with the communication as well. Bleed em dry, boys and girls and others! Bleed em dry.

(I know, that’s the risk I was taking when I went with a problem bank.)

is there a way to switch my MBD (which shows up as Flagstar when I sign in) and switch it to the Flagstar 5.55% 5 months guaranteed in an easier way than like going from one bank to another?

It is a great option but I will of course mention that you can get a 5.6% CD for 6 months as described above, so if you’re pretty sure you can maintain the account at 20k then maybe it’s worth just doing the CD.

Has anyone tried Evergreen Money (not to be confused with the other Evergreens)? 5.35% APY and a $200 sign up bonus on a minimum $10,000 deposit. It derives interest from treasuries. It says it is a Fintech company and not a bank. Is this company safe or sketchy? Might want to add this to this high yield savings list. https://try.evergreenmoney.com/?egm_variant=l&utm_source=landing-page-visitor

Why isn’t SGOV treasury ETF fund on here? Seems the most convenient way to get treasury rates with the convenience of a good market fund.

Same with USFR. Just set-up dividend reinvestment that’ll take place every month. Both of these are better options than dealing with T-bills, IMHO.

First Internet Bank 5.48% APY One Million Dollar deposit and you are in the club. I couldn’t care less about the other peasant accounts that try to compete with this winner. When you join this account you get the full benefits of the best of what you deserve at all times. Mark my words this is the best account that I and my others are in. I would not ever join in the other accounts that are desperate for money and trying to compete for a higher yield short term that will need to be bailed out by the FDIC because they are loser accouts.

I would be afraid of an account that requires $750K MORE than the FDIC limit to get their best rate. + that rate is not as good as other banks at the moment.

Also, First Internet Bank (FIB) has low ACH transfer limits when initiating transfers at FIB. Thus, I would say to @jvick that when it comes to any bank with such low ACH transfer limits, I would never be able to feel that this is the best account for me personally.

By the way, FIB’s Disclosures Page lists Regulation D 6 withdrawals per month.

Also, First Internet Bank is not the first Internet Bank. NetBank, formerly named Atlanta Internet Bank, was the first Internet-Only Bank. It made its debut in 1996.

Netbank suffered from bank failure and was closed by regulators on September 28, 2007. Its deposits were acquired by ING Group and the Netbank domain name was acquired by Axos Financial.

I’m pretty sure that the person would be fired after writing this line: “other peasant accounts that try to compete with this winner.”

I’ve been using CFG for a while now but was surprised to see MyBankingDirect have such a higher interest rate. Looking at the comments, this happened around 4/8/24. I tried searching a little more but couldn’t find what recent APY history has been for MBD? I know a lot of people think it will start to go down soon, so I don’t want to open a new account with a Chex hit just to have a 0.3% increase for a couple months then the account is worthless.

Can anyone recall what some of the previous MBD interest rates were before the current 5.55%?

MBD was 5.35% since November and 5.0% before that. Has gone up steadily since March 2022.

DK3,

During my call 1 or 2 weeks ago, I asked the woman that exact question. She said that it was 5.3% before the recent increase and I believe she said that it was about 5% before that. That seems like reasonable increases to me.

I have found that it’s best not to trust people that make disparaging/inflammatory statements without providing facts to back their claims up.

I don’t see Superior Choice CU listed on here (not sure how I found it) but the interest rate went from over 7% to 3.4%. No notice given so FYI if you have an account there.

Varg Just checked my account & it’s still 7%. Those who opened the account when they offered 7% are still at 7% unless they have more than $7K in the account.

Mine says 6.99%, which is exactly what I expect because I have slightly more than 7k in there. Maybe it’s different for some people or changing quickly.

In future data points, can people please state whether their balance is significantly above 7k?

As Paulin says, they changed the max balance to receive 7% to $7k.
