Best Posts Last Week: Three 100,000 Point Offers, 3x Everywhere & SPG/Marriott Merger Details

To say last week was a busy week would be a massive understatement. We finally got the details regarding the SPG/Marriott merger that will be happening starting August 1st, 2018. We took a look at some of the potential opportunities regarding this merger and also took a look at the new Chase Marriott & American Express SPG cards that will be launched, including a full review of the SPG luxury card. Sign up bonus on the SPG cards has already dropped, but we looked at whether you should sign up for the Chase Marriott/Ritz-Carlton cards or wait. Despite some conflicting information given by American Express, they will not continue to issue the SPG personal card long term.

Chase also made some big moves, they are offering 3%/3x on the Chase Freedom Unlimited for the first year. Discover hit back by offering a $75 statement credit bonus on the Discover it Miles, that card also earns 3% for the first year. Chase also launched the new Aer Lingus credit card and is offering a 100,000 point bonus on that along with a 100,000 point bonus on the British Airways & Iberia cards. Chuck provided some advice on why it might be a good idea to think twice before applying for these or any other Chase cards. We also saw a 60,000 Hawaiian airlines offer in flight and YMMV deals of 20,000 points on the American Express Blue Business plus and a 75,000 business gold rewards offer with no lifetime language.

It was a much slower week for bank account bonuses. Only really the $400 Citizens bank bonus for those in CT, DE, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VT and the Regions Bank $200 for those in  AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MS, MO, NC, SC, TN & TX are worth talking about.

Chase has brought back Chase offers, this time only available on Hyatt cards. Privacy.com is offering 5% back on online purchases for some people and Sam’s Club has an excellent and profitable deal on Roy’s Hawaiian fusion gift cards if they aren’t sold out. In the manufactured spending world, you can get fee free $200 Mastercard gift cards at Staples this week. The very useful fuel rewards grocery deal is back and there is a new ‘pay your rent with a credit card’ player with Urbanr offering rental payments for 1.5%.
