Best Posts Last Week: 60k Premier Offer, 100,000 Business Platinum Offer & Chase/AmEx Team Up

Last week Marriott & SPG announced they would become a unified program on August 18th. This set off a chain of other announcements/events, the first being that Chase & American Expess plan to limit bonuses based on cards/bonuses you’ve had with the other card issuer. Readers had questions on what they should do, so we tried to answer those here. Sadly the Ritz-Carlton card also stopped accepting applications, briefly a working link was found but that is no longer working. We have a reliable source stating that the new SPG luxury card will have a sign up bonus of 125,000 points. Marriott & SPG travel packages will be bookable under the current rates through August 17th.

In better news it’s currently extremely easy to get a 100,000 point bonus on the Business Platinum card with only a $10,000 spend requirement (rather than $25,000). Citi is offering 60,000 points on the Premier card, you can get matched to this offer if you sign up recently and we answered your frequently asked questions about this offer and card here. The Citi MilesUp card launched last week and it’s better than I originally thought as well. There were other increased offers and pieces of credit card news, a full list can be viewed below.

Chuck put together a useful post on the best basic high yield checking account. We added another 22 checking bonuses last week. Some highlights, First Federal Bank of Wisconsin is offering a healthy $300 checking bonus for those in WI. Columbia Bank has a $300 business checking bonus for those in WA OR or ID. A full list of newly added offers are below. We also made some additions to the best savings accounts, with Northfield offering a 2.25% APY account on balances up to $100,000 nationwide.

It was another good week for deals, Wells Fargo is offering up to 50% back at select merchants. Shipt has a two week free trial, plus $15 off your first order and some people have been targeted for a further $15 back on $49+. New IHG PointsBreak list has been released and Delta, Alaska, United & Southwest are all having portal bonuses currently.

As always a lot of the good deals have already expired, make sure to either follow us on Twitter, get instant notifications or get daily e-mail updates so you don’t miss any deals. If we missed any deals or you have an idea for a post, please let us know ([email protected] or [email protected]).
