In that tradition, this post attempts to collect and summarize data points around the often asked question – when will my bank bonus post?

Why Might This Be a Valuable Metric?

• It’s a potential indicator that something has gone wrong
  • If the bonus hasn’t posted in the expected time frame, you may have missed a requirement or your triggering method(s) has failed.  Time may still be left to correct course [of course, at this point we don’t call the bank].
• It’s an interesting component of bank bonus valuation
  • The quicker the bonus posts the better (time value of money).  You may be able to take your bonus and potentially any minimum required deposit and invest it elsewhere [of course, practicing good bank bonus stewardship].

Each bank (financial institution) has two sections below:

• one with the reported Terms, and
• one with reported Data Points.

Time Estimates

Time Estimates: [Days], [Weeks], [Months] are provided in the DP Section.

• [1], [2], … numbers following indicate about how many days, weeks, or months
• (01/23), (02/03), … are the reported posting dates
• ? indicates a guess that more data points may revise
  • For instance, a monthly batch post could look like days, weeks, or even about a month depending on when you catch it.

Data Points

• Experimenting with a new data point labeling format (vs. the traditional DoC superscripts^{1,2,3, …} ), string broken down as:
  • (Date) Date Reported: YYYYMM
  • (Source) ‘doc’ (DoC), ‘red’ (reddit r/churning)
  • (User) First Three Characters of UserID
• Summarized time frames are relative – length of time from when bonus requirements are met to when the bonus posts
  • Not taking into account other factors (like account opening times)
