Came across this new fintech Evergreen Money advertising a checking account that invests in T-Bills. The landing page advertises a $250 bonus, with apparently no requirements other than making the required $10,000 initial deposit.

https://try.evergreenmoney.com/

Bonus Terms: https://support.evergreenmoney.com/hc/en-us/articles/25197944766612–250-New-Client-Bonus-Terms

They must be very new, because I can’t seem to find anything about them except from what’s on their own website.

Buried in the various terms and agreements, it appears the account is subject to a 0.06% monthly expense fee for the “Advisory Relationship”, and a 0.03% monthly expense fee for the brokerage service. That comes out to $9/month on a $10,000 account.

Not sure if I’m brave enough to put that much money into a fledgling fintech, but the bonus offer seems easy enough, and the interest rate is not bad.

There’s some discussion about that here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/contact-us/#comment-1836309

Well, I had shared the BOFA Savings Advantage Promo mailer. Any reason for not publishing that?

Any reason why BMO was removed from the main list?

William Charles  Chuck Not sure whether you’ve already adv that there’s a $1000 BMO business checking account bonus – https://www.bmo.com/en-us/main/business-banking/bank-accounts/bb-checking-offer/?COID=BCHK-08063T-BCHKBNR&ecid=ot-1082024SMB4-JMUM32

this list needs some love, many offers are not listed or seem expired when they are not

Let them know what needs to be added. Remember, the list is the best offers, not all offers. It is a lot of work to keep up with all the offers out there, and Will & Chuck can’t do it all without input from their readers.

I just found a competitive new account at Evergreen Money. It’s a checking account that invests in Treasuries, so it’s not FDIC insured. But it’s free of state taxes. Currently paying 5.39% and there is a $250 bonus for depositing $10,000, which is the minimum opening amount. You get an ATM card and it has free incoming wire transfers, but does not have bill payment (so maybe this would be better placed in the savings account thread). I opened an account; I’m not moving money in immediately.

The founder is Bill Harris, who was the CEO of Personal Capital. You’re opening a brokerage account as well as the checking account.

Evergreen Money Corporation is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking products are provided by Coastal Community Bank, Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. Deposits are insured up to $250,000 per depositor.

But the money in your checking account is swept into your brokerage account and used to buy t-bills.

From their website:

The cash in your checking account is insured by the FDIC through our partner bank, Coastal Community Bank, Member FDIC, up to $250,000 per depositor. The US Treasury Bills in your brokerage account are insured by the SIPC up to $500,000 per account holder and are guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the United States without limit. Treasury Bills are not FDIC insured, not deposits, and may lose value.

I’ve tried signing up on 2 separate days and it won’t let me. according to their FAQ, it could be ID issue or just not eligible. I e-mailed their support a couple days ago to see if they could help, but no one ever e-mailed back.

Also the passkey setup is kind of dumb, just allow passwords and 2fa.
